• Derived from the Latin word
“communis” which means
“common” or “shared”.
• It is a social unit composed of
people who have something in
common.
COMMUNITIES MAY BE
FORMED IN TWO WAYS
1. GEOGRAPHICAL
The members of the community share the
same geographic vicinity, such as s village,
province or neighborhood.

2. NON-GEOGRAPHICAL
There are communities formed based on
needs, ideas, interests, identity, practices and roles
in social institutions such as at home, at work, in
government, society or the community at large.
