Changes in Learning and Motivation With The Advent of Online Learning Report

This study assessed changes in learning and motivation among senior high school students with the transition to online learning due to the pandemic. A survey of 36 students found that most found online classes more difficult and preferred traditional in-person learning. However, online learning was seen as less expensive. While online learning was an important option during the pandemic, traditional face-to-face learning was viewed as better supporting skills development and allowing students to perform to their full potential. The study concluded by recommending that future research thoroughly examine objectives and collect reliable data, and that students learn in their preferred way while managing their time and building confidence.

Changes in Learning and Motivation with the

Advent of Online Learning Report

Marius Waylon D. Delos Santos
Grade 12- STEM
How you developed an interest in the topic

• As the researcher of the study, I personally disagree about the

online learning. I studied Changes in Learning and Motivation
with the Advent of Online Learning Report to know if this kind
of learning does have advantages or not. I become curious as a
researcher who prefers traditional learning so I studied so I
fully understand more about the situation and the changes and
adjustments in our environment about learning.
The Problem
• Financial problems exists before pandemic, during pandemic financial
problems rose up to the point that it affects all of us. Whilst spending money
on what we needed for our daily lives, due to the changes in learning, lots of
extra payments had happened that may be saved if it wasn’t for the pandemic
financial problems.

• Knowledge is one of the problems nowadays, because students often finds

answers in the internet. Just search it up and answers pops up. Instead of
struggling to find the answer deep down in their minds, just a few types in
their keyboards or phones, answer just pops up.
The Purpose of the Study
• To know, learn and to let the students grow by learning to the
environment they prepared. It also to help those teachers that teaches
more thoroughly by traditional learning.

• To get the opinions of my fellow students about their perspective about

online learning.

• This study mainly assess those who struggle doing school works or
having difficulties about how to manage his time.
The Participants/Subjects
• Participants are from Grade 11 and Grade 12 Students under the strand of
STEM, HE, HUMMS, AND ICT.

• Fifteen (15) students from Grade 11 and Twenty-one (21) students from
Grade 12 with the total of Thirthy-six (36).

• Respondents answered a questionnaire through online survey forms or

Google Forms.

• The questionnaire were distributed to the respondents by the researcher.

The Research Questions
• The questionnaire consists of two sections; first section contains of personal informations (Email, Name, Age) and
second section is related to the topic of Changes in Learning and Motivation with the Advent of Online Learning
Report.
• The following questions are:
• Email
• Name
• Age
• How excited are you about going to your online classes?
• In your classes, how eager are you to participate?
• How much time do you spend every day on homework?
• How often do you get so focused on activities in your classes that you lose track of time?
• Do you find Online Learning hard?
• Does online learning costs more than traditional learning?
• In learning, what environment do you prefer?
• Is Online learning as good as face to face learning?
• Face to Face class or Online Class
The Design and Procedures

• Qualitative research was used in this study.

• The method used in this study was called as phenomenological

method, which means it helps people articulate their life
experiences.

• For this study, I used Google Forms to create a questionnaire

that has twelve (12) sets of questions for the respondents to
answer.
The Findings/Results
• 80.6% (29) of respondents said that they are excited while attending their online
classes
• 75% (27) of respondents said that they sometimes feel eager to participate in class.
• 44.4% (16) of respondents said that they spend 3-5 hours everyday on homework.
• 61.1% (22) of respondents said that sometimes they got so focused on activities that
they lose track of time.
• 77.8% (28) of respondents said that they do find online learning hard.
• 69.4% (25) of respondents said that traditional learning costs more than online
learning.
• 88.9% (32) of respondents said that they prefer to learn in school.
• 50% (18) of respondents said that they disagreed that online learning is as good as
face to face class.
• 83.3% (30) of respondents said they chose online class.
Conclusions/Recommendations
• In general, due to the current situation, many students had affected by the changes in learning. Students who woke up early to
take a bath, eat breakfast, wearing uniforms and going to school is the standard routine before but now all you need to was to
wake up and open your gadgets to join meetings. Students who were affected by online learning had some difficulties. Having a
hard time adjusting and using the apps, Fixing body clocks, distractions, and procrastination. Still, most respondents from the
questionnaire wants traditional learning more than online learning. Although some schools updates or upgrades their facilities
and resources as we move forward to improve our online and hybrid learning but traditional learning holds high values than
online education, especially with regard to the equivalency theory. Its high value is attributable to the face-to-face aspect, which
enhances skills development among learners. Many disagreed that online learning is as good as face to face class. It just means
that many student prefers traditional learning because it lets them release their full potential on face to face.

• This study completely finishes its study about identifying the Changes in Learning and Motivation with the Advent of Online
Learning Report for Senior High School students. As the study moves on, recommendations are made for readers such as:
• For the future researchers. Search and examine deeply and thoroughly, understand your objectives before collecting data/s
that you needed. Start early and do not rush when the deadlines are due. Get more participants to get the most reliable data in
your study.
• For the students. Learn in your preferred way. Build up your confidence, release your full potential and work with your best.
Finish your school works early and manage your time.
• For the individuals. Build up your confidence, self-esteem, eager to work more and do more without asking for something,
stand up for someone, and most importantly, do what you love.
