What is
IBM?
● IBM (International Business Machines) ranks among the world's largest information technology companies, providing a
wide spectrum of hardware, software and services offerings.

● The company is now transitioning from being an infrastructure player to one that is more cloud and data driven.

● IBM, frequently referred to as "Big Blue," got its start in hardware and excelled in that business for decades, becoming
the top supplier of mainframe computers. Over the years, the company shifted its focus from hardware to software and
services.

● By the 2010s, IBM further modified its business mix to emphasize such fields as cloud-based services and
cognitive computing.
ERP System Overview
• Enterprise Resource Planning, or ERP. It is a software for business process management that permits
organizations to use integrated applications in order to automate back office functions, services, and
human resources.
• Essentially, ERP system or software allow businesses to manage all of their operations effectively and
efficiently. It can include product planning, manufacturing, development, marketing and sales
• The main benefit of using an ERP system is that all of this can be operated via a single database. The
software is thought of as an enterprise application, due to the fact that it was designed for larger
businesses.
SAP 4/HANA Overview
• SAP S/4HANA is a real-time ERP suite for digital business.

• Based on the SAP HANA in-memory platform, S/4HANA brings significant improvements over SAP’s legendary
Business Suite, including an improved user interface called SAP Fiori UX, and comprehensive embedded analytical
and machine learning capabilities.

• SAP S/4HANA has been built from the ground up to offer the same functional scope as SAP ERP, but in a radically
simplified form.

• S/4HANA sits at the center of digital transformation, providing in-memory computing capability with a simplified
user interface to create a technical foundation for improving companies’ processes.

• S/4HANA Cloud is available in a number of cloud editions, including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid or
managed-cloud environments
SAP S/4HANA MODULES
1. SAP S/4HANA Finance
The SAP S/4HANA Finance LoB focuses on all money-related activities of a business. This includes financial accounting,
controlling, treasury and risk management, financial planning , and consolidation

2. SAP S/4HANA’s SRM and SCM Offerings


This collection of modules that make up the SAP S/4HANA logistics module contains supplier relationship management
and supply chain management solutions previously found in the SAP Business Suite

3. . SAP S/4HANA’s Sourcing and Procurement


The Sourcing and Procurement module focuses on the activities surrounding the obtainment of raw materials needed to
fulfill orders. This includes extended procurement, operational purchasing, and supplier and contract management

4. SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing


This Module focuses on the product creation process. This includes responsive manufacturing, production operations,
scheduling and delivery planning, and quality management.
5. SAP S/4HANA Supply Chain
The Supply Chain module focuses on overall business planning activities, from pre-planning production runs to
dispatching products to purchasers. This includes production planning, batch traceability, warehousing, and inventory

This module focuses on the maintenance of a business’ fixed assets, from tools and machinery all the way up to buildings.
This includes plant maintenance and EHS monitoring

The SAP Sales module focuses on the activities associated with the fulfilling sales orders . This includes pricing, sales
inquiries and quotes, sales contracts and agreements, free-of-charge orders,and available-to-promise checks

This module focuses on the lifecycle of a product. This includes defining the product structure and bill of materials,
product lifecycle costing, managing portfolios and projects

This SAP module is currently being developed. In the interim, customers can integrate SAP S/4HANA with
SAP SuccessFactors for a cloud-based HR service.
