Ohm's Law.
Ohm’s law states the relationship
between electric current and potential
difference. The current that flows
through most conductors is directly
proportional to the voltage applied to
it. Georg Simon Ohm, a German
physicist was the first to verify Ohm’s
law experimentally.
Methodology
• Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two
points is directly proportional to the voltage across the two points.

• Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance,

one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes that relati
onship.

• Where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is

the voltage measured across the conductor in units of ohm.

• More specifically, Ohms law

states that the R in this relation is constant, independent of the current.

Application of Ohm's Law
When the other two numbers are known, Ohm’s law may be used to
determine the voltage, current, impedance, or resistance of a linear
electric circuit.

Main applications of Ohm’s Law:

 It also simplifies power calculations.
 To keep the desired voltage drop between the electrical
components, Ohm’s law is employed.
 An electric circuit’s voltage, resistance, or current must be
determined.
 Ohm’s law is also utilized to redirect current in DC ammeters
and other DC shunts.
