Obstacle Avoiding Robot Car

This document describes an obstacle avoiding robot car created by students at the G.B. Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology. The robot uses an ultrasonic sensor and Arduino board to detect obstacles in its path and navigate around them. When an obstacle is detected, the Arduino controls the robot's motors to turn left, right, backwards or forwards to avoid the obstacle and continue on its path. Such obstacle avoiding robots have applications in areas like automated lawn mowing, room cleaning, and navigation in dangerous environments where humans cannot access. The goal of this student project was to create an autonomous robot that can intelligently detect and navigate around obstacles.

INTRODUCTION

 Robotics is part of Today’s communication. In today’s world


ROBOTICS is fast growing and interesting field.

 An obstacle avoiding robot is an intelligent device, which can


automatically sense and overcome obstacles on its path.

 Obstacle avoidance is a robotic discipline with the objective of


moving vehicles on the basis of the sensorial information.

 The obstacle avoidance robotic vehicle


uses ultrasonic sensor for its movements
and the Arduino is used to achieve desired
operations.
 The motors are connected through motor
driver IC to arduino. The ultrasonic sensor
is attached in front of the robot.
 Whenever the robot is going on the
desired path the ultrasonic sensor
transmits the ultrasonic waves
continuously from its sensor head.
 Whenever and obstacle comes ahead of it, the ultrasonic waves are
reflected back from an object and that information is passed to the
arduino uno.
 The Arduino control the motors left,
right ,back and front based on the
ultrasonic waves. In order to control
the speed of each motor, pulse width
modulation (PWM) is used.

 When ultrasonic sensor detect the


object which is kept inside the path it
will send the signals toward the arduino
and according to that it will rotate the motor.

 Servo motor :- A servo motor is a rotatory


actuator or linear actuator that allows for
precise control of angular or linear
position, velocity and accelaration.
ADVANTAGES
 It can be used as a movable survilence system.

 It can be controlled remotely.

 It does not requires man power.

 It can be used for critical application like flood, bomb disposal, fire,
terrorist attack, earthquake, spying etc.
APPLICATION
 Automated lawn mover.

 Smart room cleaner etc.

 Obstacle avoiding robot can be used in almost all mobile robot


navigation system.

 They can also be used in dangerous environments,where human


penetration could be fatal.

 Unmanned vehicle driving.

 Mining vehicle that uses Obstacle detection.


CONCLUSION

The goal of our project is to creat a autonomous robot

which intelligently dectects the obstacle in its path

and navigate according to the actions we set

for it.
