Deconstructivism
Deconstructivism
DECONSTRUCTIVISM
It is a movement of postmodern architecture which appeared in
the 1980s.
• It gives the impression of the fragmentation of the constructed
building, commonly characterised by an absence of obvious
harmony, continuity, or symmetry.
• Its name is a portmanteau of Constructivism and "Deconstruction
", a form of semiotic analysis developed by the French
philosopher Jacques Derrida.
• The term does not inherently refer to the
style's deconstructed visuals as the English adjective suggests,
but instead derives from the movement's foundations in contrast Jacques Derrida
to the Russian Constructivist movement during the
First World War that "broke the rules" of classical architecture
through the French language.
• Deconstructivism is an approach to building design that attempts
to view architecture in bits and pieces.
• Deconstructivist buildings may seem to have no visual logic.
• This movement has started as they rejected postmodern
acceptance of the historical refrences and the idea of
arnamentation as an element of decoration.
PHILOSOPHY
Deconstruction is concerned with written texts, it deals with
1. METAPHYSICS :- Believe in some kind of obsolute knowledge (GOD)
2. CLARITY :- It is to write simply, directly, clearly and unambiguously.
3. LOGOCENTRISM :- Analysing the structure of our language to arrive unril the structure of out thoughts and
arrive at the ULTIMATE TRUTHS
4. MEANING :- The denial of meaning from derrida was taken by deconstructivist architects and translated
as an architecture of pure syntax without any semantic meaning.
5. FEELINGS :- Concept of unsetting buildings so that one does not seek physical context as security and
look within themselves.
