 ABOUT DEAFBLINDNESS :
Deafblindness is a combination of sight and hearing impairment that affects
how you communicate, access information and get around . In other words the
condition of little or no useful hearing and little or no useful sight.

It was estimated that roughly 35,000–


40,000 United States residents are
medically deaf and blind.

The main issue they are having is going


out with out the help of another person.
STATISTICS OF DEAFBLINDNESS :

In India, it is estimated that the number of persons with various disability is over 90 million. There is
no data available regarding the size of the deafblind population in India.

 Deafblindness is a combination of vision and hearing


impairments. It is also described as multi-sensory
impairment (MSI)
 The report shows that around 0.2% of the world's
population is living with severe deafblindness.
 Analysis of prevalence data also found that 2% o the
world's population lives with 'milder forms' of
deafblindness.
Historical Perspective
The most famous deaf and blind person in history , Helen Keller,
the American author , campaigner and lecturer was born with sight and
hearing, on 27 June 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama . She lost both senses
at the age of 19 months consequent to a bout of fever. Helen Keller
(1880-1968) - Author, Activist and Lecturer.

Some Indian Achievers:

Dr. Rajendra Singh Sethi {First deaf and blind person to acquire a
doctorate degree. Now a Board Member of National Trust and Governing
Council member of Sense International (India).

Anindyo Bhattacharji (Deaf and blind man lives in New York and
works in Helen Keller National Centre).

Rajesh Mehta (a deaf and blind man in Limbdi, Gujarat who owns and Helen Keller (1880-1968) -
manages a sweet meat shop).
Author, Activist and Lecturer.
Zamir Dhale {Young deaf and blind man brought up in Mumbai and
works as Advocacy Officer in Sense International (India)
Those peoples can’t move from one place to another, Without someone’s help!!
Here we introduce the
concept of
DEAFBLINDNESS SMART STICK
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT :
Our project’s focus is to help not only blind but for both deaf and blind people by using the
smart stick.
This stick identifies the obstacles in the way and alert the user using buzzer and in case both
deaf and blind an vibrator is used to alert the user. Rechargeable battery is used for power supply.

LIMITATIONS :
 It will be so confusing , when the user in the crowded area such as railway station ,
market ,malls ,etc..
 Not a water proof.

ADVANTAGES:
 An user can travel any places independently.
 low cost.
 It helps for both deaf and blind peoples.
