Occupational Health and Safety Standards

Occupational health and safety standards aim to protect the health, safety and welfare of all people at the workplace. Common occupational health and safety standards for computer hardware servicing include not working alone so there is someone to help in an emergency, powering off and unplugging computers before working on them, and taking away any liquids near the working area to avoid electrocution or damaging computer parts. Other standards are being careful with tools to prevent short circuits, grounding oneself before touching computer parts, wearing personal protective equipment according to organizational procedures and practices, and recognizing contingency measures for workplace accidents and emergencies.
