COTTON
INTENSHIP DONE BY VINITH
ORGANISATION LOGO
ORGANISATION MISSION

• The years spent in learning the dhoti trade had made Nagarajan realise one
thing: the products were of poor quality — even to the extent of tearing
suddenly — and hence cheap. This was why the weavers also got paid so little.
But demand remained high, with people willing to travel with extra dhotis to
replace torn ones.
• What if the quality were to be improved? Naturally, the price would increase.
But would people be willing to pay higher prices for better quality dhotis?
• In 1986, Nagarajan made his decision to start manufacturing dhotis himself.
‘Quality without compromise’ was his mantra. He was reportedly inspired by the
example of Mahatma Gandhi who wore a dhoti everywhere he went. But compassion
for the weavers’ plight was another and more important reason.
INDUSTRY HISTORY
• The modern textile industry took birth in India in the
early nineteenth century when the first textile mill in the
country was established at fort gloster near Calcutta in
1818. The cotton textile industry, however, made its real
beginning in Bombay, in 1850s.
• The cotton textile industry made rapid progress in the
second half of the nineteenth century and by the end of the
century there were 178 cotton textile mills; but during the
year 1900 the cotton textile industry was in bad state due
to the great famine and a number of mills of Bombay and
Ahmedabad were to be closed down for long periods.
ORGANISATION HISTORY
• Ramraj Cotton was set up in 1983 is a star production house
of Dhotis, Shirts, Inner Wears, Knit Wears, fabrics, Kids &
Women’s Collection.  Ramraj Cotton is giving the value
addition to the life style of every Indian.
• The company is located in Tirupur, the hub of Indian knit
garment industry near to the textile city of Coimbatore in
Tamilnadu, the southern state of India. The company is
constituted by the enterprising technocrat
Shri.K.R.Nagarajan.
ORGANISATION HISTORY
• He has provided the vision continually and is the
reason behind the growth of RAMRAJ Cotton.
• The company has the dedicated, dynamic and
experienced management and staff who keep the
company in elevation always.
• The company started with the wide exposure of
dhotis, marketing them as the Indian cultural
style and to reach from town to villages.
• The Process
The journey of mens formal plain shirts from farm to market is incredible. Raw
materials are essential for producing good quality shirts, be it cotton or mens
silk shirts.
• The Raw Material
Men prefer wearing linen cotton white shirts over any other type of shirt
available because of the comfortable cotton material. But where do you get cotton
from? Cotton comes from cotton seeds. It is harvested in the prime season, where
the cotton gets separated from the cotton seeds. This process of segregating is
called ginning. On the other hand, linen is harvested from flax, one of the oldest
textile fibers.
A journey of shirt
• The Cloth Market
• Once the cotton balls are extracted from the cottonseed, they are sold to traders who
engage workers to convert them into yarns. Men love wearing mens formal plain shirts
but are oblivious to how they are produced. Next, the weavers sell the yarn in
the market.
• The Dye Process
• After the fabric is prepared, it is usually customized into different sorts.
Whether it’s mens partywear silk shirts or formal half shirts, every color and
texture is done after the fabric is ready to undergo different experiments.
• The End Product
• The customized material goes out to vendors, designers, production houses, and more
places that tailor the fabric into men's shirts. Therefore, the cotton, silk, and
mens linen shirts online are prepared by different vendors and production houses
after attaining the material. The customization is prepared in factories, production
houses, and designer stores.

CONCLUSION
• On the whole, this internship was a useful experience. I have gained new
knowledge, skills and met many new people. I achieved several of our learning
goals. I got insight into professional practices currently advocated in the
industry. I learned the different facets of working within a well established
industry. Furthermore I have experienced that it is of importance that education
is objective and that I have to be aware of the industrial aspect of the topics I
study. This internship program was not one sided, but it was a way of sharing
knowledge, ideas and opinions. The internship was also good to find out what our
strengths and weaknesses are. This helped us to define what skills and knowledge
I have to improve in the coming time. I can confidently assert that the knowledge
I gained through this internship is sufficient to contribute towards our future
endeavors. At last this internship has given us new insights and motivation to
pursue a career in core electrical departments.
