These extraordinary times (caused by the global
COVID pandemic) are changing the way we live our
lives, how we do things at home, at work and in
schools. These major changes are paving the way to
a NEW NORMAL, and it is imperative that we make
these new ways, new processes and approaches work.
To this NEW NORMAL, private and public school
pledges its NEW COMMITMENT to make NEW LEARNING
MODALITIES work for faculty, students, parents
and staff.

Aim of Distance Learning
Distance Education is a form of education in which
course content is delivered and interaction provided by
the technologies and methodologies of the Internet. The
online environment allows people to interact with others
asynchronously or synchronously in collaborative
environments; to gain access to remote multimedia
databases for active, resource-based learning; and to
manage self-paced, individualized learning in a flexible
way.

Role of Teachers
Teachers play a crucial role in nation building. Through
quality teachers, the Philippines can develop holistic
learners who are steeped in values, equipped with 21st
century skills, and able to propel the country to
development and progress. This is in consonance with the
Department of Education vision of producing: “Filipinos
who passionately love their country and whose values and
competencies enable them to realize their full potential
and contribute meaningfully to building the nation”

(DepEd Order No. 36, s. 2013)

Role of Teachers
1. Teacher promotes learner autonomy and is aware of
individual differences.
2. Teacher uses relevant and current information to
transmit knowledge. Teacher constantly researches the
curriculum and provides concrete up-to-date examples.
3. Teacher gives importance to the thoughts of students and
promotes student research, evaluation, discussion, and
reporting.
4. Teacher is aware of individual student differences when
designing learning activity sheets/perfromance tasks.
5. Teacher knows student prerequisite skills and knowledge
and uses this foundation to build new knowledge. In
addition, the teacher knows how learner can learn.

6. Teacher initiates student-teacher interaction, and has
communication and technological skills to effectively
implement distance education.
7. Teacher constructs student-centered learning with
opportunities for interaction. Students are responsible for
learning and responsible for contacting teacher when needed.
8. Teacher collaborates with student in self-development and
responsibility.
9. Teacher provides environment, materials, and guidance for
collaborative learning, interactive discussion groups,
individual learning, and research.
10. Teacher provides prompt and accurate feedback to students
to facilitate learning.

STATEGIC PRIORITIES
1. Establish communication channel; and structured routine by encorporating
curriculum learning task to the current learning environment of the learners at home.
2. Ensure that teaching modality and plans are achievable, reasonable, flexible
and potentially effective as student-centered to maintain the flow of learning.
3. Develop and contextualize learning resources in different modalities to support learning.
4. Accept opportunities to be part of learning resource management team and
continuously improve personal growth and professional development.
5. Promote and support individual differences in terms of the availability of
resources, background of the subject, means of communication for learning.
6. Spread awareness regarding the pandemic, teach the students about the
various preventive measures in order to keep them productive at home.

1. Students use appropriate technology to interact collaboratively with
each other and teacher, and use feedback and consultation to develop
and refine knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
2. Students are self-responsible for their own learning. They should
decide what they want to learn, establish their goal, research and
develop their subject.
3. Students research current data to answer questions and solve
problems
4. Students learn to solve problems by assessment, data collection, and
developing and implementing strategies using relevant information.
5. Students identify communication barriers, their causes, and
solutions.
6. Students promote life-long learning and know how to access and use
information when instruction is finished.

1. Force to be self-directed, motivated, evaluative, and
responsible for their own discovery of learning.
2. Being self-responsible on task. Manage tasks in order to
maximize time.
3. Take responsibilities in attending online conferencing
with subject teachers.
4. Establish routine and learning spaces at home in
partnership with their parents/guardians and teachers.
5. Secure authentic learning and monitor self-progress in
academe and create healthy lifestyle while learning at home.
6.Availability of communication strategies and collaboration
with colleagues.
