Exercise No. 2: Presented By: Group 2

The rancher is considering two types of turkey feed, Brand Y and Brand Z, to determine the lowest-cost diet that meets the monthly nutrient requirements. Brand Y costs $2.50/lb and contains vitamins A, B, and C. Brand Z costs $3.50/lb and contains vitamins A and B. The problem is modeled as a linear program to minimize costs subject to meeting the 90 oz vitamin A, 70 oz vitamin B, and 6 oz vitamin C requirements. The optimal solution is to purchase 3 lbs of Brand Y feed for a total cost of $7.50.

EXERCISE NO.

2
Presented by: Group 2
Problem:
Holiday Meal Turkey Ranch is considering buying two different
types of turkey feed. Each feed contains, in varying proportions,
some or all of the three nutritional ingredients essential for
fattening turkeys. Brand Y feeds cost P2.50 per pound. Brand Z
feeds costs P3.50 per pound. The rancher would like to
determine the lowest-cost diet that meets the minimum monthly
intake requirements for each nutritional ingredient. Brand Y
feeds contain 5 oz. of Vitamin A, 5 oz. of Vitamin B and 2 oz. of
Vitamin C. Brand Z feeds contain 10 oz. of Vitamin A and 5 oz. of
Vitamin B. The rancher specified that at least 90 oz. of Vitamin
A, 70 oz. of Vitamin B and 6 oz. of Vitamin C must be used. Used
the graphical solution to determine the answer.
