• Use adverbs ( adverbs of manner, place


and time) in sentences.

Adverb- is a word that modifies a verb, an
adjective, or another adverb.
• Examples
a. Adverb modifies a verb.
Ethan runs quickly.
b. Adverb modifies an adjective.
Our street is strangely quiet.
c. Adverb modifies an adverb.
The pupils talk very loudly.
THREE TYPES OF ADVERBS:
• Adverb of manner tells how the action of the verb takes place. It answers
the question “ how”

Examples: loudly sadly quietly well


My children eat slowly.
My sister speaks fast.
Roselyn writes neatly.
• Adverb of place describes where the action takes place.
Examples: inside here away in the forest
Ella and Jam go to school everyday.
The children are playing outside.
We stayed in the mall last Saturday.

• Adverb of time indicates when the action of the verb takes place.
Examples: in the morning yesterday today next year
Lita attends the mass every Sunday.
We celebrated my birthday yesterday.
They will be leaving tomorrow.
ACTIVITY A. Refer to the kind of adverb written before each number.

• Example : Place 1. The children played ( inside, later, happily.)


Time 1. We arrived ( early, inside, loudly ).
Manner 2. Javier jumps ( excitedly, soon, outside ).
Place 3. The farmer works whole day ( in the clinic, in the farm, in the market.
Place 4. Mara dropped the letter ( seldom, clumsily, somewhere )
Manner 5. Jairus obeys his parents ( here, always, willingly).
Time 6. They will go there ( bravely, tomorrow, above ).
Place 7. Will you take this ( tomorrow, carefully, outside ), please?
Manner 8. My cousins can speak Kapampangan ( inside, easily, yesterday ).
Place 9. I stayed ( inside my room, calmly, tomorrow ).
Time 10. Mother went to the market ( happily, yesterday, above).
ACTIVITY B. Read the paragraph carefully then, pick out the adverbs and write each under the correct column.

Anna and Mara are twins. Mara talks softly while Ana speaks loudly. They both like playing outside every
morning. They hold picnics in the garden. They also hide behind the tree and both giggle quietly. Moreover, they share
jokes everyday and they read their books every night. The twins treat each other well.
