Server
• CLS allows capacity reservation based on
requests from:
Floating pool
• SWEM – LTE/SRAN, capacity
• Core/ Telco Cloud elements, reservation
Solution Benefits
• A Central Licensing component for Network level licensing • Stop value leakage!
• Network pools and network float licenses with automation • Licensing can follow changes in network management as well
as customer contracts without “producing” license leakage.
• Network level monitoring reports
• Human errors corrected without leakage.
• Only one Target ID per customer
• Re-use of current licensing (NSN license generation backed, • Simplified licensing operations
Licensing SW assets in use, O&M interfaces) • License generation and delivery simplification – less human
• errors.
A Central Licensing component covering Telco Clouds
licensing: • Telco Clouds licensing easy to understand
• Protection against cloning for Network Elements as well as • Telco business models continued while protection in clouds
OSS family products assured for NSN and OEM SW.
• OEM SW protection • Minimized impact on Network Elements.
• One licensing concept for HW as well as Virtualized/Clouds • Licensing supports expected dynamics in cloud deployment.
deployment.

• Every feature is protected, but just a small subset of features gets a dedicated limitation action.
• Features which have defined dedicated limitation actions are:
- Data Users
- Daily UP Data Volume
- Quarterly UP Data Volume
- Busy Hour UP throughput
- Configured Rel.99 CE capacity
- Configured FSMR4 BB capacity
• For all other ASW / HVF / HWA features (on/off or with capacity) a “general limitation” is applied if not enough license capacity
is available.
- This general limitation action is handled by the CLS by freezing capacity of all existing capacity features (e.g. Data Users, Daily / Quarterly UP Data
Volume, Busy Hour UP throughput, Configured Rel.99 CE capacity).
- If in the situation of “general limitation” the NE would ask for additional capacity of any capacity feature, CLS will always respond that capacity
limitation is existing, even capacity licenses would be available and SWEM is generating a CM command to limit the capacity of the related capacity
feature (e.g. to limit # users to a value as provided in the CM command).
CLS 16.2:
- Monitoring based SW assets protection for LTE, SRAN – alarms only.
CLS 16.5:
- CLS support for Telco Cloud: IMS (pilot),
CLS 16.8:
- Monitoring based SW assets protection for LTE, SRAN – limitation action.
CLS 17:
- CLS support for Telco Cloud: IMS…
CLS 18:
- CLS support for WCDMA (BTS),
- CLS support for NetAct capacity.
