Dräger X-pid® 9000/9500
At a Glance
X-pid 9000/9500
For benzene and other
carcinogenic substances
Benzene, butadiene and other volatile
organic compounds (VOC) are carcinogenic
even in the smallest concentrations.
Selective measurements are necessary
because other gases and vapours are often
also present. The high number of
measurements e.g. during maintenance work
require short measuring times and low total
costs.

The X-pid 9000/9500 provides fast

measurements without consumables. This
Scope of delivery includes results in a high degree of security and
sensor unit and control unit efficiency – especially for users with a high
with mobile app volume of measurements.

Principle of Operation
Stationary Operation and Measurement in Seeker Mode
- Gas sample is continuously sucked in and detected at the seeker PID.
- Carrier gas is generated by an internal activated carbon filter and flushes the GC
permanently. In stationary operation, only filtered air passes the analysis PID. The
carrier gas is circulated and thereby used several times in order to increase the
service life of the filter.

Injection und Measurement in Analysis Mode

- When the valve is switched over for one second, the gas sample is injected into
the GC and each compound detected on a time-delayed basis at the analysis PID.
The characteristic chromatogram is recorded.
- The GC is exposed to the gas sample only for a few seconds during the analysis.
The lifetime is several thousand measurements.

Challenge: Application Scenarios
High time pressure

Whenever hazardous compounds

such as benzene and butadiene are
suspected, a clearance measurement
must be carried out before entering
confined spaces. During maintenance
work, often hundreds of
measurements are necessary and
every hour of shutdown means high
costs.

Application Scenarios Challenge:
Low Threshold Limit Values

The occurrence of benzene vapours

can hardly be avoided in many plants.
However, cancer-related occupational
diseases can be avoided by applying
the right measuring strategy –
monitoring of the exposures with
sensitive, accurate and user-friendly
devices

Challenge: Application Scenarios
Unknown danger

Complaints from local residents

about odours in the immediate
proximity to factory areas and
chemical plants need to be addressed
by companies. The absence of
hazardous concentrations of aromatic
compounds can be detected with the
X-pid 9500 and thus critical
situations can be alleviated.
