WHAT IS

PIIE is a professional organization devoted to serving the needs of the industrial and systems engineering practitioners and institutions. It was established to provide a venue where members will have the opportunity to enhance and strengthen their industrial engineering capabilities and expertise as well as create a potent venue to crystallize business linkages among members and colleagues from the industry and academe. Founded in April 1998, PIIE is non-stock, non-profit organization. It nonnonenvisions to be the recognized national organization and the focal point of all industrial engineering agenda concerning the academe and industry. In furtherance of said objective are: - to encourage and assist education and research in industrial engineering; - to advance and encourage the practice of industrial engineering; - to provide leadership and guidance to young industrial engineering professionals; - to promote interaction among its members and cooperation with other engineering/scientific societies and agencies to represent the industrial engineering profession.

WHAT IS

PIIE is the primary exponent of OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE in the industry and academe. It will actively engage in activities to expand and increase the organizations recognition on this commitment. Through this efforts, it is envisioned that PIIE will be able to enhance the countrys competitiveness. It is also PIIEs commitment to actively participate and advocate the initiatives relevant to the efficient and effective utilization of the countrys resources as well as promote to its constituents/institutions the dedication to quality, cost-effective mind-set, costmindsystems thinking, logistical competence and value supremacy. Also, an integral part of PIIE is the recognition of outstanding firms that advocate Operational Excellence, students that excel on their IE studies and other related categories that may amplify the practice of Industrial engineering.

Why get Certified?

Mark of a professional

Help promote a clearer public awareness and understanding of the role of the IEs in society, and to aid in ensuring that fellow IEs perform their services in a manner which recognizes as paramount public health and safety

Employers look to licensure or certification in evaluating the advancement potential of employees

Why get Certified?

Enhanced status in the eyes of the public

Equates the industrial engineer with other professionals licensed in other fields.

Assurance that the individual IE has passed at least a minimum screen of competence. competence. Adds credibility and respect

It polishes ones reputation as a qualified industrial engineer

PIIE Certification

IE Certification is a voluntary process, which validates an process, individual's qualifications in the field of industrial engineering (IE) professional practice. It demonstrates to employers, clients, and peers the individual's knowledge and experience and signifies his or her commitment to continued excellence in IE professional practice. practice. In addition, it increases visibility, builds credibility, and validates expertise with those outside the profession.

The IE Practitioner
A practitioner is defined as an individual who has:
(1)

a mastery of basic industrial engineering knowledge

(2) a command of the methodologies used by industrial engineers in applying that knowledge to the design of a product, process, or environment; and (3) has applied his or her knowledge to the analysis, design, test, implementation and evaluation of products, processes, and environments.

LEVEL 1 THE CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING (CIE)

The CIE is the designation for associate practice. practice. The criteria for CIE certification are: An active PIIE member A Filipino citizen A bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering from CHED-recognized CHEDschool/university with an accredited B.S.I.E. program or an internationally accredited program A passing score on the CIE written examination on IE Core Knowledge. Knowledge. The CIE applies a general breadth of knowledge to analysis and evaluation. evaluation. He should exhibit the minimum standards of competency for Industrial Engineering practice. The scope of practice for the CIE is limited to the use practice. of commonly accepted tools and techniques for the analysis and enhancement of performance in existing systems.

LEVEL 2 THE PROFESSIONAL IE (PIE)
