Objective:

Determine the relationship of the volume

between a rectangular prism and a pyramid,
cylinder and cone, cylinder and sphere.
Drill: A. Perform the indicated operation:

35 x 25 = 875
125 x 2.5 = 312.5
30 ½ x 25 = 762 ½
450 ÷ 20 = 22.5
50 ½ x 15 = 757 ½

Have you ever gone to a family outing to a resort?
There are many different kinds of swimming pool,
isn’t it? There are swimming pools for kids and for
adults. There is also Jacuzzi. If you will be asked
how much water is placed in the swimming pool,
how will you do it?
Volume
Volume can be define as the 3 dimensional space
enclosed by a boundary or occupied by an object.
The volume of an object is measured in cubic
units such as cubic centimeters (cm³), cubic inch
(in³), cubic meter (m³), etc.
Volume of a shape is the amount of space it fills.
16 cubic centimeter

Volume is the product of the area of the
base and height

Volume of Cylinder
The volume of a cylinder is the amount of space
inside the cylinder. Finding the volume of cylinder is
similar to finding the volume of any prism.
Given the radius and h, the volume of cylinders can
be found by using the formula
V = Area of base × height
V = π × r2 × h V = π × r × r× h
V = Area of base × height
V = π × r × r× h
V = 3.14 × 2 cm × 2 cm × 15 cm
V = 3.14 × 4 cm² × 15 cm
V = 3.14 × 60 cm3
V = 188.40 cm3
V = Area of base × height
4 cm
V = π × r × r× h
V = 3.14 × 4 cm × 4 cm × 7 cm
7 cm
V = 3.14 × 16 cm² × 7 cm
V = 3.14 × 112 cm3
V = 351.68 cm3
V = Area of base × height
V = π × r × r× h 9 cm

V = 3.14 × 4.5 cm × 4.5 cm × 11 cm

11 cm
V = 3.14 × 20.25 cm² × 11 cm
V = 3.14 × 222.75 cm3
V = 699.4350 cm3
How can you find the volume of a cylinder?
Calculate the area of the base (which is a
circle) by using the equation πr² where r is
the radius of the circle. Then, multiply the
area of the base by the height of
the cylinder to find the volume.
V = Area of base × height
V = π × r × r× h
Cone Cylinder

What can you say about the measurement base

and the height of the two figures?
Yes, the measurement of the base and height are
the same.
The volume of cone is 1/3 of the volume of a cylinder with the
same base (B) area and height.
V = 1/3 (B x h) V = 1/3 (πr² x h) V=πxrxrxh
3
V=πxrxrxh
3
V = 3.14 x 2 m x 2 m x 5 m
3
V = 3.14 x 4 m² x 5 m
3
V = 3.14 x 20 m³
3
V = 20.93 m³ V = 62.80 m³ = 20.93 m³
3
V=πxrxrxh
3
V = 3.14 x 5mm x 5mm x 8mm
3
8 mm V = 3.14 x 25mm² x 8mm
3
V = 3.14 x 200mm³
5 mm 3
V = 628.0mm³ = 209.33 mm³
V = 209.33 mm³
3
How can you find the volume of a cone?
The volume of cone is 1/3 of the volume of a cylinder with the
same base (B) area and height.
V = 1/3 (B x h)

V = 1/3 (πr² x h)

V=πxrxrxh
