Cervical Rib

A cervical rib is a rare anatomical variation where an extra rib may develop from the seventh cervical vertebra in the neck region. This extra rib can compress the brachial plexus nerves and blood vessels, causing pain and numbness in the shoulders and arms. Symptoms may include pain in the neck, shoulders, and arms as well as weakness or numbness in the hands. Surgical removal of the cervical rib is usually recommended to relieve compression of the brachial plexus and alleviate symptoms.
