Manufacture of Ethanol

This document outlines the process for manufacturing ethanol. Key steps include: 1. Raw materials of ethylene and water are fed into a reactor operating at 229°C and 4975kpa to produce ethanol. 2. The product stream is separated using flash drums and distillation columns. Material and energy balances are calculated. 3. Equipment like heat exchangers and distillation columns are designed. A cost estimation is provided, with total capital investment of ~42 crores including direct, indirect costs and working capital.
