5 PILLARS OF ISLAM

• The five pillars of Islam give you the framework that gives schedule,
controls and state of mind necessaries to prepare you into the real
actions.

• “ So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work
righteousness.” Surah Al- Kafh (18:10)
1. WITNESSING (SHAHADAH)

• As a Muslim we should testify and witness that Allah is one and

Muhammad is His Messenger (PBUH).

• This statement of faith must be declared publicly.

• It should be a genuine belief which includes all the above articles of

faith.
1. WITNESSING (SHAHADAH)

• The witnessing of the Oneness of Allah is the rejection of any form of

deity other than Allah.

• And the witnessing that Muhammad is His Messenger is the

acceptance of him being chosen by Allah to convey His message of
Islam to all humanity.
2. PRAYER (SALAH)

• Prayer is an act of worship.

• Allah does not need man's prayer because He is free of all needs.
Prayer is for our immeasurable benefit, and the blessings are beyond
imagination.

• Prayers are obligatory upon every Muslim.

2. PRAYER (SALAH)

• There are two basic types of prayers. Obligatory Prayers and Optional (Voluntary)
Prayers.
Obligatory
Obligatory Prayers is the Five daily prayers, the Friday's noon congregation prayer.
Obligatory Prayer should be offered in its due time, unless there is a reasonable
excuse. Delayed obligatory prayers must be made up.
Voluntary
Optional Prayer is a voluntary prayer during the day and night and some other types
of Prayer that are practiced by our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
2. PRAYER (SALAH)
3. ZAKAT (CHARITY)

• Obligatory charity giving is an act of worship and spiritual investment.

• The literal meaning of Zakat is purity.

• It is an imposed specific amount of assets that is identified by the Islamic laws

as the assets that have the potential to grow.

• Muslims who have enough wealth have to give a little amount i.e. 2.5% of your
wealth to the poor and needy.
3. ZAKAT (CHARITY)

• Zakat does not only purify the property of the contributor but also purifies his
heart from selfishness and greed, heart from envy and jealousy, from hatred
and uneasiness.

• Zakat has a deep humanitarian and social-political value.

• “And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send
forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah” (Qur’an 2:110)
3. ZAKAT (CHARITY)
4. FASTING (SAWM)

• Fasting is abstaining completely from eating, drinking, intimate

sexual contacts and smoking from the break of dawn till sunset.
4. FASTING (SAWM)

• Obligatory fasting is done once a year for the period of the month of Ramadan,
the ninth month of the Islamic year.
• Fasting teaches man:
 devotion
 patience
 unselfishness
 moderation
 willpower
 discipline
4. FASTING (SAWM)

• "The month of Ramadan (is the month) in which the Qur’an has been
sent down as guidance for mankind containing clear signs which lead
(to the straight road) and distinguishing (the truth from falsehood).."
(Q 2:185)
• “And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew." (Q 2:184)
• "Fasting is a shield with which a servant protects himself from the
Fire." [Imam Ahmad, Saheeh]
5. THE PILGRIMAGE (HAJJ)

• It is a pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once in a

lifetime and it is obligatory upon every Muslim
male and female who is mentally, physically and
financially fit.

• Muslims from all walks of life, from every corner

of the globe assemble in Mecca in response to the
call of Allah.
5. THE PILGRIMAGE (HAJJ)
5. THE PILGRIMAGE (HAJJ)

• Peace is the dominant theme. Peace with Allah, with one's soul, with
one another, with all living creatures.
• To disturb the peace of anyone or any creature in any shape or form
is strictly prohibited.
• [Quran 22:27] "And proclaim that the people shall observe Hajj
pilgrimage. They will come to you walking or riding on various
exhausted (means of transportation). They will come from the
farthest locations."
MAY ALLAH (SWT) GUIDE US ALL
ON THE STRAIGHT PATH AND
PREVENT US FROM DEPARTING
IT.
