CHINESE BOXES

A set of boxes, of
different sizes, each
fitting inside the next
larger one.
STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED IN ANALYZING
THE STRUCTURE OF MODIFICATION
USING CHINESE BOX:
1. Identify the immediate constituent
and enclose them in boxes.
2. Place an arrow pointing from the
modifier toward the head, between
the two immediate constituents.
3. Enclose them with an outer box
indicating the structure of
modification

STEPS IN ANALYZING STRUCTURE OF


PREDICATION USING CHINESE BOX:

1.Immediate constituents are boxed


2.Place the capital “P” between subject
and predicate, if predicate comes before
the subject write this symbol “q”
3.Enclose the whole structure in an outer
box
