Layers
In a floor plan of a building,
for example, you want to
keep the walls, ceiling,
plumbing fixtures, wiring,
and furniture separate so
that you can display or plot
them individually or
combine them in different
ways.
Notes, reference symbols,
dimensions should also
have their own layers.
Layer characteristics
Creates a new layer frozen in all existing layout viewports (a viewport displays
views of model space in the layouts)
When you FREEZE a layer, the visible effect in the drawing is the
same as turning a layer OFF. The difference, however, is that when
you freeze a layer, AutoCAD does not display, plot, hide, render or
regenerate objects on frozen layers. So, it does not keep track of
them anymore. This helps to speed up zoom, pan or improve object
selection performance.
color to a layer.
Layer linetype
Line types are useful to define, for example, the
difference between hidden lines, centre lines,
fence lines, or other noncontinuous lines.
