Sacs Software Introduction

SACS is structural analysis software used for offshore structures like oil platforms. It can perform various types of static and dynamic analyses to assess structural adequacy during design, installation, and operation. Key analysis types include linear/nonlinear static, seismic response, wave/wind response, fatigue damage, and code checking. The software allows modeling joints and members, applying properties, boundary conditions and loads, and viewing/post-processing results.

ABOUT SACS
SACS is an integrated suite of software that supports the analysis, design and
fabrication of offshore structures, including oil, gas, and wind farm platforms and
topsides. This software is created by Bentley Inc. Company.
SACS CAPABILITY
Analysis scope in Detailed Engineering Design:
• Pre-Service Analysis : The preservice analyses are intended to assess the
adequacy of units for all anticipated loading conditions prior the structure is
in place for its expected function and operations. (lifting analysis, loadout
analysis, transportation analysis, launching analysis, upending analysis, float-
over analysis, installation analysis, etc.)
• In-Service Analysis : The in-service analyses are intended to assess the
adequacy of structure for all anticipated loading conditions once the unit is in
place for its expected functions and operations. (inplace analysis, seismic
analysis, fatigue analysis, pushover analysis)
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Static analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. Linear Static Analysis : An analysis where a linear relation holds between
applied forces and displacements. In practice, this is applicable to structural
problems where stresses remain in the linear elastic range of the used material.
(Basic Static Analysis, Topside Static Analysis)
2. Non-linear Static Analysis : An analysis where a nonlinear relation holds
between applied forces and displacements. These effects result in a stiffness
matrix which is not constant during the load application. (Static with Pile Soil
Interaction, Static with Gap Elements, Large Deflection)
3. Full Static Collapse: Non-linear static analysis in which ultimate limit
condition of the structure are investigated.
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Dynamic analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. Extract Mode Shapes : to extract the number of mode shapes in increasing the
order of frequency.
2. Seismic Analysis : structural dynamic analysis which calculate and design the
response of the structure to earthquake. (Spectral Earthquake, Time History
Earthquake)
3. Wave Driven Analysis : to generate the wave response against the structure.
(General Wave Response, General Wave Response with Gap, Extreme Wave,
Deterministic Wave, Random Wave)
4. Wind Driven Analysis : to generate the wind response against the structure
(Extreme Wind, Spectral Wind Fatigue)
5. Force Driven Analysis : (Force Time History, Periodic Vibration)
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Post Processing analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. Code Check : to perform member stress ratio check on beam, tubular and
plate. Code check is also used for checking the tubular connection (joint stress
ratio) which perform the punching shear stress. (Code Member Check,
Tubular Connection Check)
2. Fatigue Damage Analysis : to perform the fatigue damage against the tubular
and non-tubular connection. (Spectral Fatigue, Tow Fatigue, Deterministic
Fatigue, Time History Fatigue)
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Loading analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. Environmental loading : generates environmental loading toward the structure
to be further analyzed with other loadings.
• Metaocean loading : wave, wind, current, buoyancy
• Transportation inertia loading : linear / rotation acceleration, motion, RAO
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Marine Application analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. Flotation : to check the stability of the jacket during flotation, upending and
launching process. (flotation, upending, launching)
2. Stability : to perform the vessel stability during transport the structure to the
installation location. (ballasting, intact stability, damage stability)
3. Vessel Motion : to determine vessel motion characteristics of the hulled
structure.
SACS ANALYSIS TYPE
Utilities analysis type in Detailed Engineering Design:
1. General : (single pile analysis, material take off, global structure load data,
rigid body, free body, etc.)
2. Solution File
3. Superelement : (create pilehead superelement, create superelement, expand
superelement, merge superelement, create user defined superelement, format
superelement, dynamic superelement)
SACS PROGRAM
MANAGER
• Modeler : Launch precede to model the structure
• Data file : Launch datagen to create the model in text ways or create run file
(e.g. analysis input, combine file input, etc.)
• View results : Show the results in model view (normally the extension is
postvue database)
