CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is a change in the statistical
properties of the climate system that persists for
several decades or longer-usually at least 30 years.

Climate change in Bangladesh is an extremely

crucial issue and according to National
Geographic, Bangladesh ranks first as the nation
most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change
in the coming decades.
CFCs & OZONE LAYER
The layer of ozone gas is what which protects us from
the harmful ultraviolet radiations of the sun. The
ozone layer absorbs these harmful radiations and thus
prevents these rays from entering the earth’s
atmosphere.
Causes of ozone layer depletion :
 Increase in the level of chlorine and bromine gases

in the upper stratosphere

 Hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs)

 Production and emission of (CFCs)

 Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

Effects :
 Melting of polar ice

 Presence of ozone in the lower

atmosphere is considered as a pollutant

and a greenhouse gas.
 Ozone in the lower atmosphere

contributes to global warming and

climate change

Solutions :
• Buying and using recycled products, saving of energy
• International agreements between countries to bring
down ozone layer depletion
• Using of public transport.
• Reducing the uses of CFCs (e.g. aerosol etc.)
• The most important thing that we can do is spreading
awareness.
DEFORESTATION
The cleaning or thinning of forests by humans
for other uses is called deforestation.
Causes :
• Agricultural Expansion

• Logging for Timber

• Infrastructure Building

• Overpopulation

• Fire

• Charcoal Production

• Shrimp culture
Effects :
 Global Warming

 Weather Patterns

 Water Cycle

 Quality of Life

 Ocean Acidification

Solutions :
 Green Business

 Eco-forestry

 Law and Regulations

 Community Forestry

 Replanting (Reforestation)
Air Pollution
Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor
environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent
that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere
(World Health Organization). Air pollution occurs when
harmful substances including particulates and biological
molecules are introduced into Earth’s atmosphere.

Causes:
• Forming of smog

• Burning of industrialization

• Exhaust from factories and industries

• Motor vehicles

• Brick kilns
Effects:
• Global warming

• Acid rain

• Effect on wild life

• Depletion of ozone layer

Solution:
• Use energy efficient devices
• Understand the concept of reduce, reuse and
recycle
• Ban of two-stroke three-wheelers in Dhaka
• Emphasis on clean energy recourses
Water Pollution
Water pollution is the
contamination of water bodies (e.g.
lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and
ground water). Environmental
degradation occurs when pollutants
are directly or indirectly discharged
into water bodies without adequate
treatment to remove harmful
components.
Causes:
High concentration of naturally occurring substances
can have negative impacts on aquatic flora and fauna.
Natural and anthropogenic substances may cause turbidity
which blocks light and disrupts plant growth, and clogs the
gills of some fish species.
Effects:
Climate Change has several effects on these
proportion on a global scale. The main one is that
global warming causes polar ice to melt into the sea,
which turns fresh water into sea water supply. Another
Impact of higher temperature is the melting of inland
glaciers.
Solutions:
 Sewage Water

 Industrial wastewater treatment

 Agricultural wastewater treatment

 Point source wastewater treatment

 Erosion and sediment control from construction sites

 Control of urban runoff (storm water)

Industrialization
Industrialization is perhaps the most pervasive and
fundamental trend affecting national societies in the
current era. According to (Bowman and Anderson, 1963)
industrialization is an increase in the level of education
in the population.

Causes: According to Hannah Keller-

 Natural Resources

 Growing Population

 Improved Transportation

 High Immigration

 New Inventions

 Investment Capital
Effects:
Add CO2 and other heat-trapping
gases to the atmosphere. These greenhouse
gas emissions have increased the
greenhouse effect and caused Earth's
surface temperature to rise. Also it caused
a great increase of atmospheric
concentrations of water vapor, carbon
dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, all
greenhouse gases that help to trap heat
near Earth's surface

Solutions:
 Organized Labor
 Progressive Movement Workplace Reforms
 Green chemistry
 New invention for greenhouse gases
To conclude, we can say that climate is changing
because of human being. Apart from that, the main cause
is global warming. Its effecting the whole planet and our
daily life. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, The
National aromatics , Space administration and The
National Oceanic concur that climate change is indeed real
and is almost certainly due to human activities.

Even Normal people can see the changing in climate.

In Bangladesh three months is usually for winter season
but now it is less than that. Which means the amount of
heat is increasing day by day. Moreover, the duration of
the summer season has increased in last several decades
which is also a symptom of climate change. We need to
change ourselves to protect our climate and also to save
the future generations.
