Quarter 2 PPT Module 21
God our Father, be with us today and help us to be good examples of your
love.
May we do our best to follow you in showing concern for others.
Help our school and our local communities to be places of faith so that we
can help others to believe in you.
May Mary, who praised God in all things, be an inspiration to us in all we
say and do.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

TOPICS:
SECANTS, TANGENTS,
SEGMENTS and SECTORS OF
A CIRCLE
SECANT
A secant is a line or segment or a ray that intersects a circle
at exactly two points. A secant contains chord of a circle.
TANGENT LINE
A tangent to a circle is a line coplanar with the circle and
intersects it one and only one point.
The point of intersection of the line and the circle is called
the point of tangency.
Activity 1:
Tangent or Secant
1. In each figure,
identify if the figure a. tangent line d. tangent line
illustrates a tangent
line, secant, or b. secant line e. neither
neither.
c. secant line
COMMON TANGENT
a common tangent is a line or segment or ray that is tangent
to two circles in the same plane.
