Azure Virtual Machine

This document discusses Azure Virtual Machines. It begins with an introduction and overview of Azure VMs. It then explains that Azure VMs provide virtualized computing resources without needing physical hardware. The document outlines how Azure VMs work by using virtualization to partition resources from a physical host. It also discusses benefits of Azure VMs like cost savings, agility, security, and lowered downtime. In conclusion, it states that Azure VM Reserved Instances are a cost-effective way to run multiple operating systems on a single system.

What is Azure VM
• An Azure VM provides you the flexibility of virtualization without having to buy and
maintain the physical hardware that runs it.
• It is no different than any other physical computer like a laptop, smart phone or server. It is
just virtualized program to compute within physical servers, existing only as code.
• The virtual machine is partitioned from the rest of the system, meaning that the software
inside a VM can't interfere with the host computer's primary operating system.
• With the help of VM, user can create 2nd operating system in a single consisting system.

How Azure VM work
• Virtualization is the process of creating a software-based version of a computer along with
dedicated amounts of CPU, memory and storage that are borrowed from a physical host
computer.
• Physical Host could be a personal computer, Remote Server or a server in a cloud service
which will help to provide VM to the user.
• It runs in a windows as a separate computing environment as well as to run a different
operating system.
• The VM is partitioned from the rest of the system, meaning that the software inside a VM
cannot interfere with the host computer's primary operating system.

Azure VM RI
• An Azure Reserved Virtual Machine Instance (RI) is a VM on the Microsoft Azure public
cloud that has been reserved for dedicated use on a one- or three-year basis.
• Azure Reserved Instances are a way to reduce Azure costs by committing to a one- or three-
year term for a virtual machine.
• Significantly reduce costs up to 72% compared to pay-as-you-go prices with one year or
three year terms on Windows and Linux virtual machines VM.
• You can further reduce your costs with reserved instance size flexibility.

Benefits
VMs are independent of each other, they are also extremely portable. Because of their flexibility
and portability, virtual machines provide many benefits, such as:

1. Cost Saving : Drastically reduction of infrastructure which saves tons of bills.

2. Agility and speed : Virtualization makes the process of running dev-test scenarios a lot
quicker.
3. Lowered downtime : This means that they are a great solution for backup, in the event
the host goes down unexpectedly.
4. Security benefits : Because virtual machines run in multiple operating systems, using a
guest operating system on a VM allows you to run apps of questionable security and
protects your host operating system.

Conclusion
Azure VM-RI is a great service to two different OS on a single hardware in modern world with efficient costing
and on reserved bases system
It is portable as well as fast in service.
