TUTORIAL WEEK 14

TASK 1

In groups of 3 or 4, design an activity


to teach letter knowledge, vocabulary
or narrative skills. Present the activity
to the class and get feedback.
Letter Scavenger Hunt 1) The pupils should be equipped with a handful of
(letter knowledge) old newspapers and magazines where they can
find various fonts and designs of letters.

First part of the activity:


2) The pupils and the teacher do a warm up; ‘group
search activity’, where the teacher pronounces a
letter, then the students will have to find the letter
from the magazine as fast as they can.
3) Repeat with any other letters.

Second part of the activity:


4) Teacher prepares a big board containing all of the
alphabets.
5) The teacher instructs the pupils to find as many of
the letters as possible, cut it, and paste it to the
board accordingly.
How does this activity help in developing
letter knowledge?

- Able to practice identifying and a wide


variation and designs of alphabets.
- Repetitively seeing the letters will help
them to recognize and remember it more
effectively.
- At the same time they can learn about the
uppercase and lowercase letters.

TASK 2

In groups of 3 or 4, gather materials to


teach sound system from different
sources. Analyse the characteristics of
these materials and produce one each
group.
MATERIALS TO TEACH THE SOUND SYSTEM
PICTURE CARDS MULTIMEDIA TOOLS (VIDEOS)

➔The picture cards include the picture of the


word that can help the pupils to identify the
words on the cards. ➔ Through videos, pupils will be able to learn
how to distinguish and pronounce the sound
➔Phonics flashcards can help children learn through the examples that are shown in the
the letters of the alphabet, the sounds and videos.
➔ This can help them in pronouncing the words
combinations of letters (phonic blending). correctly.
