WHAT IS ADOBE
PHOTOSHOP ?
Photoshop is tool to create, modify, combine and
optimize digital photos and images in your
computer.
It excels in digital photograph and used to
perform complex changes such as adjusting the
brightness and contrast of the image, combines
image elements and keeping it organize.
SHORT HISTORY
• Created by American brothers, Thomas and John
Knoll in 1987
• Was named as ImagePro before then renamed as
Photoshop
• Purchased by adobe in 1988
• First released on February 19, 1990 exclusively for
Macintosh.
Photoshop Document (.psd file). A .psd
file is the default file format of Photoshop. It
is a multi-layer document that retains its full
editing options when saved. In many cases,
you will export web graphics from a psd
document file format.
Layers. Photoshop documents are composed
of layers, which can basically be described as
single transparent sheets that hold particular
pieces of an images. These layers can contain
images, text and vector graphics. They can be
rearranged and grouped according to user
needs.
Selections. This refers to regions in an image that
will be affected by the various tools. Once you
have selected an area, you can apply a tool to it,
such as paintbrush, or perform an operation such
as copy or crop. Selections can be any shape and
size; the shape depends on which selection tool
you are working with.
Resolution. Resolution refers to the number
of pixels in a full size image. An image with
high resolution (hi-res) contains more
information than an image with low
resolution (lo-res)
• Color mode. Color mode refers to the types of colors you
will be using in your image. CMYK and RGB are the most
important of these modes to be familiar with.
CMYK is the setting for images that will be printed to paper.
The letters refer to the four channels of color used to create
every color available: cyan, magenta, yellow and black.
RGB refers to the three channel color mode suitable for
images to be viewed on the web: red, green and blue.

What Can You Actually Do
With Adobe Photoshop?
Line art or line drawing is any
image that consists of distinct
straight or curved lines placed
against a (usually plain)
background, without gradations in
shade (darkness) or hue (color) to
represent two-dimensional or
three-dimensional objects.
A vector image is a 2D digital
image that is often used in
graphic design, and usually
involves bold, striking colors like
logos and printed graphics. A
vector image can be one of
several different file types, most
commonly an EPS, SVG, AI or
PDF.
Double exposure photography
is a technique that layers two
different exposures on a single
image, combining two
photographs into one. Double
exposure creates a surreal
feeling for your photos and the
two photographs can work
together to convey deep
meaning or symbolism.
One design element that’s certainly
trending is the neon glow effect. By
incorporating and playing with
various lighting effects, you can
create emphasize an element of your
site or add some subtle mystery to
the overall design. Whether you
want to make a literal neon sign or
just add a fun pop-culture vibe to
your site, this effect is such a fun
trend that allows designers to
experiment!
