VARANASI
It is an important pilgrimage centre of Both Hindus and Buddhists,
which is also an important centre of education and learning.

The key attributes of touristic importance of Varanasi are the Ganges


and Ghats (riverbanks), ancient relics and temples, narrow serpentine
lanes, Indian spiritualism and mysticism, Indian classical music and
dance, ancient philosophy, meditation, handicraft items etc

Starting from the North, there are beautiful cities or places in the lap of
Himalayas. These cities or towns will give the sensation of peace and will
feel more connected to nature.

TRANSPORTATION
• BY AIR -

The nearest airport to reach Varanasi is the city air terminal. Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport is located 25
kilometers northwest of the city center. Regular domestic flights are catered in the airport. Flights from
Kathmandu and Thailand are also accessible.

BY RAIL -

Varanasi Railway Station enjoys regular connectivity of trains from all over India. Mughal Sarai Railway
station, 10 kilometers from the city also offers train options to numerous destinations in India. Long-haul
trains as well as daily ferries are available. The railway station lies close to the city. Autos and cabs take
you to any destination in the city.

• BY ROAD -

Located in the plains of India, the road network to reach Varanasi is wonderful. By road the city is
connected to major cities of Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states by state-run buses. Private air-
conditioned buses are available from nearby cities. Private air-conditioned and non-air conditioned cabs
ply on the route.

Many streets are too narrow to be reached by cycle-rickshaw, auto-rickshaw, and
car and therefore, you may have to walk a bit to reach your destination.
• By foot

By foot is the only way to see the waterfront and the ghats - but be ready to be hot,
sweaty, and lost - locals are usually happy to point you in the right direction.

Walking Tours are operated by many companies, with the cheapest being the daily
tours operated by Stops Hostel (₹100 plus transportation, 3 hours).
• By cycle-rickshaw and auto-rickshaw

The chaotic streets of Varanasi are sometimes too much to handle by foot.
Therefore, it will often be convenient to travel by cycle rickshaw or auto-rickshaw.

A short journey of a few kilometers should cost under ₹50, while a longer journey
within the city, such as between the Ghats and the train station, will cost ₹100
• By Maharaja Rickshaw:

The city also has Maharaja Rickshaw(or Mr. Rickshaw Wala) run by a new
company which offers tailored luxury experience at very low price(starting
INR250 per person).

• By car or taxi:

While taxis and cars-for-hire do exist, traffic makes them impractical.

The guesthouse is a nice, clean, newly refurnished building. You can view the
Ganga from the rooftop and listen to their free Indian classical music concerts from
7:30 to 9:00 every night. They can also arrange tours and boat rides. Single: ₹450

2) Ganga Fuji Home:


All rooms are clean, with clean sheets and towel. The rooftop restaurant offers

3) Vishnu Rest House:


A hotel spanned over 200 year old Vishnu temple. A very clean and friendly guest
house over looking the river, some rooms with views. You will often find classical
music programs and puja held during morning and evening time.

AGRA
Agra is the city of the Taj Mahal the historic mosque, in the north Indian state
of Uttar Pradesh, some 200 km from Delhi.it is 240 KMS from Jaipur and is
famed across the globe for it's large legacy of monuments, old heritage,
colourful bazars and tourist friendly behavior of the localities.
Agra has three UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Taj Mahal and the Agra
Fort in the city and Fatehpur Sikri nearby. There are also many other buildings
and tombs from Agra's days of glory as the capital of the Mughal Empire.

This part is truely a Heart of India. It needs no mention, and you
will find when you visit.
TRANSPORTATION
 BY AIR -

Service to Agra's Kheria Airport (IATA: AGR ICAO: VIAG) is limited due to the airport's primary
function as an air force base. Currently the city is served by Air India. Flights are usually on
time and provide connection to Delhi and Mumbai.

 BY RAIL -

Agra is on the main train line on the Delhi-Mumbai (Bombay) and Delhi-Chennai routes. There are
numerous train options connecting Agra with these cities every day. Some eastbound trains from
Delhi stop in Agra, so direct connections to points in Eastern India (including Kolkata) are available.

 BY ROAD -

A number of buses connect Agra with Delhi. It takes around 4-5 hours to reach Agra by bus. For
local sightseeing in Agra, it is better to hire a taxi on a full day basis. A reliable way of booking your
cab is to do so online. Also, you can book a taxi at your hotel or outside the railway station.

Tongas, electric buses and electric tempos are readily available, and the best way to get to
the Taj where no cars are allowed.

Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws are available everywhere, remember to agree on fares


clearly in advance. 

UP Tourism conducts daily full day (Fatehpur Sikri, Agra Fort and Tajmahal; Rs 500/- per
head) and half day tour (Agra Fort and Tajmahal; Rs 350/- per head; fees based on Dec,
2015) in AC buses
The best way to experience the city is to take a walk on the Mall Road (Sadar). The street
is full of handicraft and leather goods shops.

As a guide, an auto rickshaw from Agra Cantonment station to the Taj Mahal is about Rs 80
(at least in off season); and a cycle rickshaw from the Taj Mahal to Agra Fort is Rs 40.

Very peaceful area (surrounded by trees) that is within 20 min walk to Taj Mahal. Rooms are
old but good value.  Around Rs200 for single private, shared bathroom & Rs500 for single
ensuite.
2) Hotel Amba Inn
Offers facilities for 22 rooms in total. There are both double rooms, single rooms, as well as
facility for an extra bed. All the rooms are air conditioned/air cooled, with television. Single
₹550-800, double ₹650-900.
3) Col Lamba Indian Home Stay
his B&B is run by Col.Lamba, a retired army officer, and his wife. There are 7 rooms which
are very clean, air-conditioned and with TVs. Home cooked lunch and dinner available on
request. Guest Kitchens also present. Highlight of the B&B is the hosts who are very warm
and hospitable and will assist you with their local knowledge. Around ₹700 per person.

spicy lentil mix. Both are also popular souvenirs.

MADHYA PRADESH

It is a state in the plains of India. The name "Madhya Pradesh" means "central


region", and derives from its geographical position. It is one of the few states of
India that is completely surrounded by other states, having neither a border with
another country nor a coastline. To its north is Uttar Pradesh. To its west lie
Rajasthan and Gujarat, to its south is Maharashtra and to its east is
Chhattisgarh, a state that used to be a part of MP till 2000.
It has a rich feast for those who seek prehistoric paintings, historic forts,
religious erotica, or tribal culture. On the flip side, the tourist infrastructure is not
very well-developed.

The major railway junctions of Madhya Pradesh are Bhopal, Bilaspur, Bina, Gwalior, Indore, Itarsi, Jabalpur,

Katni, Ratlam, Ujjain and Khandwa. Bhopal Railway Station is the key railhead of the state and is served by

many important trains that link it to the rest of the county.

A strategic network of National Highways and State Highways interlink the cities of Madhya Pradesh to

several other cities and states of India. NH 3, NH 7, NH 12, NH 12 A, NH 25, NH 26, NH 26 A, NH 27, NH 59,

NH 69, NH 75, NH 76, NH 78, NH 79, NH 86, NH 92 connect the state of Madhya Pradesh with other Indian

cities and states.

the major means of local transportation in the state. Today one can see a
number of cars, mopeds, bikes, scooters, etc. running on the roads.

convenient, easily available and affordable transportation option
