Blended Learning: By: Group 3 Fadilah Zunuaris Ika Haya Aulia Sarah Madina

Blended learning combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or pace. Blended learning aims to provide more flexibility for students and promote self-directed learning. It integrates online digital media and platforms with traditional classroom elements like face-to-face instruction and real-time interaction. Blended learning provides opportunities for students to learn in a variety of ways and helps develop key 21st century skills.

We have already
been able to…
• Doing an online assessment the way you preferred to
learn;
• Selecting personal development actions that meet
your exact learning needs;
• Doing your own development at a time, place, and
pace to suit you;
• Work virtually and globally with your colleagues on
new developments.
What is Blended
Learning?
• Blended learning is a teaching method which
integrates the innovative and technological advances
offered by online learning with the interaction and
participation offered in the best of traditional learning
(Thorne, 2003).

(3rd phase).
• Stewart (2002) advocated mix of self-paced

What studies were conducted at definition period
(2003-2006)?

• Maximizing the benefits of both face-to-face and

online methods (Osguthorpe & Graham, 2003).
• Combining opposite components (Singh, 2003).
• Integrating face-to-face learning experiences with
online learning experiences (Garrison & Kanuka,

Woltering et. al., 2009.
What are main characteristics of blended
learning? (1/3)

• Students have the option of the two modes;

• teachers are well versed with both the modes;
• students get face to face interactions as well they
interact in virtual space;
• students get full experience in using new
technology;
• students get training in different life skills;
What are main characteristics of blended
learning? (2/3)
• All around development of personality is targeted;
• Physical development is possible with in school campus;
• Students get wide exposure and new perspective of the
course content;
• It has a human touch;
• It provides multicultural and multi dimension approach to
teaching learning process;
What are main characteristics of blended
learning? (3/3)
• makes teaching learning process child centered;
• diverse role of teacher;
• student constructs knowledge rather than just consuming
it (Lalima & Dangwal, 2017).
What are requirements for implementing a
successful blended learning? (1/2)
• Well trained teacher;
• teachers with scientific attitude;
• teacher with wider outlook and positive approach towards
change
• complete facilities like well-furnished computer, internet
connection, provision for video chatting
What are requirements for implementing a
successful blended learning? (2/2)
• students have access to internet at their private
computers;
• flexibility in the system;
• fully aware and agreed parents;
• formative evaluation and continuous internal assessment
(Lalima & Dangwal, 2017).
What are blended learning models?

• Rotation model (station-rotation model, lab-rotation model,

flipped classroom model, individual-rotation model)
• Flex model
• Self-blend
• Enriched-virtual model
Advantages of Blended
Learning
01 Students get more time in the classroom
for creative and cooperative exercise.

02 Benefit from both learning methods

03 It provides more scope for communication

Students become more techno savvy and they gain

04
enhanced digital fluency

05 Students have more strengthened professionalism

06 It updates course content

07 Reduce educational expenses and lower costs

Disadvantages of Blended Learning

Digital Badge
What is a digital badge?

Digital badges in education are

confirmed pointers that indicate
individual success, abilities and
skills, and interest in different
learning settings.

Educational Technology
Educational technologies are often initially defined in terms of hardware: the
computers or mobile devices our students will use and the networks — wired and
wireless — that connect them.
Technology is a tool or system used to solve problems. In education, that means “things
or tools used to support teaching and learning” (Bates, 2015).
There are many technologies with important educational applications that we could
not include here. For example, social networks such as Facebook allow for the
establishment of learning communities outside an LMS, while social media applications
such as YouTube can be useful for teachers who want to find or create their own open
educational resources, or for learners as a platform for video-based learning activities.
3 Steps for Effective Technology and
Blended Learning Implementation
1. Reflect on your Remote Learning Experience
2. Find the Technology Tools that Best Fit your
Needs
3. Determine your Ratio of Face-to-Face Learning

Flipped Classroom

Your Picture Here

a flipped classroom is a learning strategy that changes

learning patterns by providing video lectures related to basic
knowledge of learning materials to be studied at home, and
when at school, students can focus on deepening the
material (Bergmann & Sams, 2012)
Flipped learning is one of the growing technology-integrated
teaching approaches that is categorized under blended
learning (Rahman, Yunus, & Hashim, 2019).
Traditional Learning vs. Flipped
Learning
What flipped classroom is like?
Advantages of flipped classroom (Fulton, 2012).

Homework is done in class; students can ask questions about the

01 subjects they did not understand comfortably, educators may also
provide suitable solutions according to the talent of the students.

Students have a chance access course 7/24.

02

Time spent in classroom is used more effectively in terms of both

03 students and educators.

Educators who have taught using this method indicated that they got
04 higher results from the tests when compared to traditional method
results.
Disadvantages of flipped classroom Jenkins (2012), Duerden
(2013) and Miller (2012)

Following whether the students watch the video or not is difficult for
01 teachers.

Students who do not have learning capacity face difficulty in learning

02 environment.

Needing computer and internet for the application of model complicate

03 the applicability of model

04 Need for technology increase cost.

05 Students who learn through videos do not ask questions, have difficulty
in establishing relationship between topics and as a result have
difficulty in learning if there is no internet connection or computer

06 Not being able to create an environment where students can speak

while learning the subject and their reaction can be measured.
