Mark the destination
A bookmark in Word works like a bookmark you might place in a book: it
marks a place that you want to find again easily. You can enter as many
bookmarks as you want in your document or Outlook message, and you can
give each one a unique name so they’re easy to identify.
Insert a bookmark

1.Select text or an item, or click where you want to insert a bookmark.

2.Click Insert > Bookmark.

3.Under Bookmark name, type a name.

4.Click Add.

Note: Bookmark names need to begin with a letter. They can include both numbers and
letters, but not spaces. If you need to separate words, you can use an underscore
10 ( _ )
—for example, First_heading.
Apply a heading style
Headings make text stand out and help people scan your document.
The simplest way to add headings is with heading styles. Using heading styles means you can
also quickly build a table of contents, reorganize your document, and reformat its design
without having to manually change each heading's text.
1. Select the text you want to use as a heading.
2.On the Home tab, move the pointer over different headings in the Styles gallery. Notice as
you pause over each style, your text will change so you can see how it will look in your
document. Click the heading style you want to use.
If you don't see the style that you want, click the More button    to expand the gallery.

Tip: You can change the font and formatting of a heading style. Just select the heading text
you want to customize, modify its styles the way you want, and then on the Home tab, in
the Styles group, right-click the heading style that you customized and click Update Heading
to Match Selection. Every time you apply that heading style in your document, the heading
style will include your customizations.

Add the link
The fastest way to create a basic hyperlink in an Office document is to press ENTER
or the SPACEBAR after you type the address of an existing webpage, such
as http://www.contoso.com. Office automatically converts the address into a link.
In addition to webpages, you can create links to existing or new files on your
computer, to email addresses, and to specific locations in a document. You can also
edit the address, display text, and font style or color of a hyperlink.
1. Select the text or object you want to use as a hyperlink.
2.Right-click and then click Hyperlink
3.Under Link to, click Place in This Document.
4.In the list, select the heading or bookmark that you want to link to.
Note: To customize the Screen Tip that appears when you rest the pointer over the
hyperlink, click ScreenTip, and then type the text that you want.

12
Save a document as a webpage(Export to HTML)

If you need to save a Word document as a webpage, your best bet is to use the Web
Page, Filtered option.
When you save your document as a filtered webpage, Word keeps only the content,
style instructions, and some other information. The file is small, without a lot of extra
code.
1. Click File > Save As and choose the location where you want to save your
document.
2.Name your file.
3.In the Save as type list, choose Web Page, Filtered.
4.Click Change Title and type the title you want to display in a web browser’s title
bar.
5.Click Save.

13
Select language
Some terms come from another language such as French, German
or any other language. Instead of having the spelling controller stop
every time on one of these words, you can tell Word that these
words are from another language. If the proper language dictionary
is installed, Word will also be able to check the spelling.
 Make a block with one or several words of another language.
 From the Tools menu, select the Language and Select
language options.

14
Column Width
Using the Column Width option, you can control the width of the text lines which can affect
readability as a result of how our eyes see content. (Usually, you don't want to read more than 10
to 15 words per line of text. Otherwise, reading text can quickly become tiring.)
1.Position the insertion pointer somewhere within the text that is
already formatted for columns.
2.Display the Page Layout tab of the ribbon.
3.Click the Columns tool in the Page Setup group. Word displays a
drop-down list of options.
4.Choose More Columns. Word displays the Columns dialog box.
(See Figure 1.)
Clear the Equal Column Width check box if you don't want your
columns to be an equal width. (The Equal Column Width check box
is only accessible if you set the Number of Columns control to some
value other than 1.)
In the Width and Spacing area of the dialog box, adjust the width
and spacing (the space between columns) for each column to reflect
your desired page appearance. As you adjust one number, other
columns and widths may be adjusted automatically. All these
numbers are inter-related. 15
Click on OK.
Page Color
The Page Color options allow you to change the background color that best suits your
eyes, which can help reduce eye strain while reading content.

Change the background color

1. Click Design > Page Color.
2.Pick the color you want under Theme Colors or Standard Colors.
If you don't see the color you want, click More Colors, and then pick the color you
want using any of the options in the Colors box.
To add a gradient, texture, pattern, or picture, click Fill Effects, and then click
the Gradient, Texture, Pattern, or Picture tabs to select the options you want.
