WHY UAV’s ?
The program's Global Hawk drones can stay aloft for 30 hours and fly 11,000 miles (17,700
kilometers) with their 116-foot (35-meter) wingspans. That lets them reach and stay in stormy areas
that manned planes can't, performing valuable surveillance.
HURRICANE
Reports on temperature, pressure, humidity, and location could help scientists understand
the forces of wind and water inside hurricanes by going with the flow the way humans
never could.

Considering that drones perform dangerous tasks faster and better than humans, they certainly will replace us
in this regard. Cleaning and defrosting wind turbine blades are just one of such duties. It is a routine task and
at the same time, a big challenge for maintenance crews. The whole process used to be slow, expensive and
very risky for the personnel.
That's where Aerones decided to step in. Their drone-based solution is safe, effective and to
be honest, looks quite spectacular. The drone can lift up to 200 kilograms (441 lbs.) of
weight and is connected to the ground via an electricity cable and a water hose. The
electricity cable powers the drone so that it can stay in the air as long as required and the
WIND
water is pumped from the ground, enabling the drone to deliver plain water, hot water or
distilled water. Cleaning solutions and anti-freeze solutions such as hydrophobic coatings
can be added to the water. Only non-hazardous and biodegradable chemicals are used.

What will you get if you combine UAV with a metal detector?.. A landmine- and gold-seeking drone!!
The Seeker drone is programmed to take off, follow an established flight path over an area, avoid obstacles and
fly mere centimeters above the ground. It can be seen the product’s potential in mine clearance, treasure-
seeking and archaeology.
The drone has six rotors and a trio of different attachments. The first is used to map the desired
area, while the second, a metal detector, is used to detect mines, flagging them with GPS
markers. After this, the drone returns to its operator and swaps its metal detector for a robot
LANDMINE
arm, which is used to place small detonators the size of tennis balls over the mines' locations.
The drone then retreats to safety and the mines are detonated.

Breakthrough Starshot is a research and engineering project by the Breakthrough Initiatives to develop
a proof-of-concept fleet of light sail interstellar UAV probes named Starship, to Proxima Centauri b, an Earth-
sized exoplanet in the habitable zone of its host star, Proxima Centauri, in the Alpha Centauri system. At a
speed between 15% and 20% of the speed of light, it would take between twenty and thirty years to complete
the journey, and approximately four years for a return message from the starship to Earth.
The Breakthrough Starshot program aims to demonstrate a proof-of-concept for ultra-
fast, light-driven Nano-UAV-spacecraft, and lay the foundations for a first launch
to Alpha Centauri within the next generation. Secondary goals are Solar System
exploration and detection of Earth-crossing asteroids. The spacecraft would make a
flyby of, and, possibly photograph any Earth-like worlds that might exist in the system.

December 2020 saw the outbreak of coronavirus, which has now spread to over 160 countries.
To prevent further spread of COVID-19, some countries have declared public emergencies and
imposed lockdowns.
Already, drones with loudspeakers have been utilized to spread messages in France, Spain,
Cyprus and California; communicating to people out in public that they must respect social
distancing measures or reinforcing that travel is prohibited.
In addition to communicating with the public, drones may be utilized to assist law enforcement
workers with lockdown measures in the coming days. The models currently in use measure in
at approximately a foot in diameter and weigh 1.7lbs.

With a sophisticated GPS guidance system, the DJI Phantom 4 Dog Drone follows a set pattern
for your dog’s daily walk, and returns to the starting point. A built-in retractable dog leash
attaches right to your dog’s collar, bringing your walking time to a stop. The drone hovers above the
dog and directs his path along the route you have programmed, and a built-in camera sends video of
the walk directly to your mobile phone.
IBM (IBM) filed an application for a patent that was published Thursday for a drone that
can function as a sort of mechanized dog-sitter and trainer. The goal is to create a drone
that can properly feed, train, and prevent dogs, cats, and other domesticated pets from
tearing up the house while owners are away.

Flying Pantograph transposes human-scale drawing acts to a physically remote
output canvas in different scales and aesthetics. A drone becomes an "expression
agent," modified to carry a pen and be controlled by human motions, then carries
out the actual process of drawing on a vertical wall.
Not only mechanically extending a human artist, the drone plays a crucial part of
the expression as its own motion dynamics and software intelligence add new
visual language to the art.
This agency forms a strong link between a human artist and the canvas; however,
at the same time, it is a deliberate programmatic disconnect that offers space for
FLYING
exploiting machine aesthetics as a core expression medium

Traditional methods for pipeline inspection have been slow, manually intensive,
expensive and dangerous to conduct. Even when using other aircraft for pipeline
inspection, the cost of operation and access to relevant areas present a challenge.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) popularly known as drones offer a cost-effective
platform for pipeline inspection for the oil and gas industry due to their availability,
range and ease of operation. Using drones provides a number of advantages to the
industry user including ability to maintain and operate a large fleet of aerial
platforms, reduce cost of operation, faster turnaround time, flexibility to perform a
variety of roles, higher quality inspection due to its ability to fly closer to the source
and safety of operation. The limitations of drone use are that it can only perform
external inspection, platforms are vulnerable to weather conditions & high winds
INSPECTING
and have a limited flight endurance with typical flight time of a micro UAV ranging
from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. In spite of the limitations listed, the business
value of drone operations and their cost-effectiveness far outweigh their limitations.
PIPELINES
In addition to studying ocean life aerially, a drone has been modified to collect the
exhaled mucus from whales. A whale’s blowhole offers a variety of biological
information that is essential for researchers. From the mucus collected by the
‘SnotBot’ drone, researchers can study:
Stress hormones
DNA
Microbiomes
Pregnancy hormones
Additionally, EarBot drones have been utilized to source bioacoustics data from

whales. Not only do these UAVs promise a non-invasive method of learning more
about our ocean life, but they are also more cost-effective .

Perhaps the most exciting evolution of drones is bio-inspired. Drones in the form of insects,
hummingbirds and bats are more versatile, performing actions such as:
Flying in figures of eight
Hovering on the spot
Turning 180 degrees
Flipping 360 degrees
Perching upside-down
BIO-
These bio-inspired drones are not commercially available yet they are either still in
development or being trialed. However, the vision of these types of UAVs span from military
use, as defence or supplying frontlines, in search and rescue missions and to better serve the
INSPIRED
construction.

CONCLUSION
With the evolution of technology and time, we see drones headed for new heights in
the world. The same safety, efficiency and cost benefits that appeal to the military
make drones attractive for a wide range of business and civil government functions.
The $100 billion market opportunity we forecast over the next five years is just the tip
of the iceberg. Drones' full economic potential is likely to be multiple times that
number, as their ripple effects reverberate through the economy.
