Domain-range-Intercepts of Rational Function

This document discusses finding the intercepts of rational functions. It provides examples of finding the x-intercept by setting the function equal to 0 and solving for x, and finding the y-intercept by setting x equal to 0 and solving for y. Examples are included of finding the intercepts of specific rational functions.

intercepts

Intercepts are the points at which a

graph crosses either the x or y axis,
and they are very useful in sketching
functions.
x-intercept

To find the x-intercept(s) (the point

where the graph crosses the x-axis
also known as zeros), substitute in 0
for y and solve for x.
Y-intercept

To find the y-intercept(s) (the point

where the graph crosses the y-axis),
substitute in 0 for x and solve for y or
f(x).
