What is Information?

Information in MIS means the processed data that helps the management in planning , controlling and operations.
Data means all facts arising out of the operations of concern . Data is processed i.e. recorded , summarised ,
compared and finally presented to the management in the form of MIS report.

What is Source?

Source means the origin of something


The source is the text or other work that provides the information that is being
used.
Information Sources

An Information Source is a source of information for somebody, i.e.. anything that


might informs a person about something on provide knowledge to somebody.
Information sources may be observations, people speeches, documents, pictures,
organizations etc.
Types Of Information
Information can be classified from two perspectives
• On the basis of nature of Information
• On the basis of management hierarchy

The information which induces action is called an
action information. .

For Example:- when the attendance of the student for a


particular subject suddenly falls down 40% calls for
immediate action
Action and Non-
Action Information Non-Action Information which is communicates only
the status of a situation is a no action information..

for Example:- While watching the live cricket match you


understand that India's Current Run rate is 4 per over
whereas its required run rate is 7 Per over. you have this
information but this is non-action information
Recurring and Non Recurring
Information
Recurring vs. non recurring information: The information that is
generated in regular intervals is called recurring information,
whereas non-repetitive in nature is called non-recurring
information.
Internal and External Information

Internal vs. external information: all information that produced


from internal sources of any organization is called internal
information, though all information that produced from external
sources of any organization is called external information.
