Hello learner!
In this lesson, you should be able to define
what a computer
is and describe its parts.
The parts of the computer that you can see and touch are
hardware.
Hardware is divided into three (3) groups; input, output and
storage devices.
Computer hardware includes the physical parts of a computer,
such as the case, system unit, monitor, mouse, keyboard,
computer
data storage, graphics card, sound card, speakers and
motherboard.

Input Devices
These devices allow you to enter
letters, numbers and symbols in
the computer.
Keyboard is the main input device used to enter
letters, symbols and
numbers.
A system unit is the part of A computer that houses
the primary devices that perform operations and
produce results for complex calculations.
The mouse is a device used to move around the
screen. It allows
the user to click icons or buttons, select text or
images, or open files or
programs on the screen.
Microphone is used for speaking and to
recording your voice or
other sounds.
A headset is a hardware device that connects
to a telephone or computer, allowing the user
to talk and listen while keeping their hands free.
DIGITAL CAMERA It is used in taking photos and video
recordings of events.
WEB CAMERA -it is an input device used
to capture video during video call.
A joystick is like the mouse which is used to move or control
within
the computer screen. It is commonly used in playing
computer games.
GRAPHIC TABLET- This is used to draw or write directly on
the computer screen. It is
often used by illustrators and graphic artists.
SCANNER-This is commonly found in offices and schools
and it is used to
copy printed photos or documents.
Virtual Reality Headset - This is usually used by gamers
doing a virtual game and pilots
when they practice flying an airplane. In using this device,
you can
also find ourselves in another place to view or walk around.
