Qatar- Three powerful breathing
exercises
MENAFN- Gulf Times, in
Qatar, offers three breathing
exercises. Before you sit for
each of these breaths, we
recommend getting out any
excess energy in your body, like
shaking your limbs, hands, feet,
or rolling your neck and moving
around. Once you settle down,
sit upright and elevated with
your spine and neck straight and
your face, tongue, jaw and
shoulders relaxed. Once you
become familiar with these
breaths, you can practice them
with your eyes closed.

• Arteries are large blood
vessels. (red in image)
• They carry blood away
from the heart and to all
the organs in the body.
• Veins are large blood
vessels. (blue in image)
• They carry blood back to
the heart from the
organs.
• Capillaries are the

Investigating exercise and breathing

• You are going to find out how doing exercise effects your breathing rate.

• First you need to measure your resting breathing rate. Count how many
times you breathe (in and out = 1 breath) in 30 seconds.

• Write a prediction on what you think will happen to your breathing rate
after doing 1 minute of star jumps.

• Extension: explain why you have chosen that prediction.

Effects of exercise
 The oxygen and glucose needed for
respiration are carried around in the blood.

 Therefore your heart rate increases during

exercise. Your body needs more oxygen
and glucose for respiration so the heart
pumps faster.

 Oxygen is supplied through breathing and

so during exercise your breathing rate
increases.
