Smart Room

This document summarizes a smart home project. The project aims to (1) automate an original system to make it smarter and safer with developing technology, (2) capture happenings in and out of a room and perform assigned functions, and (3) avoid extreme waste and prevent sun glare. Key components include a microcontroller, motion sensor, LDR sensor, internet of things, and materials like a Bluetooth module, relay module, and LED lights. The project will automate a learning room with features like a motorized blind and automated light system controlled by a smartphone app.

PRIMARY SOURCE
SECONDARY SOURCE
A microcontroller, the primary chip, which
Controller allows you to program the Arduino in order
for it to be able to execute commands and
make decisions based on various input

The exact chip varies depending on what

type of Arduino, but they generally Atmel
controllers, usually an ATmega8,
ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega1280, or
ATmega2560

The differences between these chips are

subtle, but the biggest difference a beginner
will notice is the different amounts of on
board memory
Motion Sensor
Electronic device that is designed to detect and
measure movement. Motion sensors are used
primarily in home and business security systems

Active sensors have both a transmitter and a

receiver. This type of sensor detects motion by
measuring changes in the amount of sound or
radiation reflecting back into the receiver

A passive motion sensor does not have a

transmitter. Instead of measuring a constant
reflection, the sensor detects motion based on a
perceived increase of radiation in its environment
LDR Sensor An LDR or
light dependent resistor is also known as photo re
sistor
, photocell, photoconductor. It is a one type of
resistor whose resistance varies depending on the
amount of light falling on its surface. When the
light falls on the resistor, then the resistance
changes

This resistor works on the principle of photo

conductivity. It is nothing but, when the light falls
on its surface, then the material conductivity
reduces and also the electrons in the valence band
of the device are excited to the conduction band.
Internet of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is
a system of interrelated computing devices,
mechanical and digital machines,
objects, animals or people that provides
unique identifiers and the ability to
transfer data over a network without
requiring human-to-human or
human-to-computer interaction.

QUALITY PLAN
 Quality plan for this Smart Room project is to make sure the efficiency of the project
in energy saving. In order to achieve that the automated light system and automated
blind system will have to go through an inspection to make sure the quality of the
project.

On site test for Automated Blind System

• Function test – the blind movement should be smooth while it is switch open or switch off
• Real performance and suck power test
• Fatigue test – functional buttons are presses twenty times and should operate perfectly at the
end.
• Running test – will the product overheat or run normally after hours of operation. Power
consumption test
• Noise level test
