You are one of the graduates of naval architecture and maritime engineering college. You always share your
maritime technical knowledge among industry personnel and also among students who are pursuing the same
degree as yours. Particularly, you are most interested in maritime design.
You regularly contribute articles to an international magazine published semi-annually. For the second issue of
the magazine this year, you are planning to increase the understanding of the readers in maritime design
particularly on the design and characters of the hull of a ship. So you have volunteered to write n article about
this topic. Your article has to comprehensively discuss how the hull of ship is designed considering various
important factors necessary for the entire lifetime of the ship. It must also discuss the role of the hull in the
entire ship design and shipbuilding. You also want to provide important illustrations and define terms
operationally in your article to achieve your intention, which is to enhance the understanding of your readers
about the design, characteristics, roles, and factors to consider in building the hull of a ship.

Conics At Play)
You are a writer for your school paper. Your school paper adviser has asked you to join a national essay
writing contest. The contest has been launched by the Mathematics Teacher Society of the Philippines dubbed
as “Conics at Play”. The contest aims to harness the creativity of the youth and to enhance their understanding
and knowledge of the essential roles that conics play in various fields such as medicine, astronomy,
architecture, and design. There are four categories of the contest-narrative essay, descriptive essay, persuasive
essay, and expository essay. Whoever wins the contest is entitles by a four-year scholarship grant in college.
Your school paper adviser gives you the following guidelines for the contest:
a. Interested students can join in only one category.
b. The essay must have at least 300 words written in English language.
c. All entries must be original and unpublished. The organizer will subject all essays to plagiarism checks.
Plagiarized essay will be disqualified.
d. The essay must be authorized by one person only.
e. All entries must be submitted through email:

f. The cover page of the essay must include the name of the author, age,
address,, email address, school name and address, title of the essay,
category, and number of words.
The deadline of submission will be on September 15, 2021, you have been
instructed by your adviser to submit your work to her first for initial
checking. So, aside from the guidelines, make sure to observe coherence,
organization, appropriate mechanics, and human appeal in your essay.
