A Seminar On Cloud Computing

The document discusses cloud computing, which provides dynamically scalable virtual resources over the internet. It describes cloud computing concepts like infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, and software as a service. The key benefits are low costs, flexibility, and reliability through redundancy. Cloud computing relies on virtual machines and has characteristics like cost effectiveness, device independence, and improved security through centralization. The document outlines the various components, architectures, types of cloud including public, private, hybrid and on-premises models.

1
What is Cloud Computing?

It is a style of computing in
which dynamically scalable &
often virtualized resources are
provided as a service over the
internet.

33
 The concept incorporates:-
• Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS)
• Platform as a Service(PaaS)
• Software as a Service(SaaS)

4
4
 These services have reliance
with the internet for satisfying the
computing needs of the user.

 Cloud computing provide

common business applications
online that are accessed from a
Web Browser, while the
Software and Data are stored on
the servers.

5 5
General Characteristics…
They consume resources as a
service, paying for only the
resources they use.

Cloud computing users can avoid

expenditure on hardware, software
and services, rather paying a
provider only for what they use

66
Benefits of this approach are low Barriers
to entry, shared infrastructure and costs, low
management overhead and immediate access
to a broad range of applications.
Cloud computing relies heavily on virtual
machines (VMs) that are spawned on demand
to meet the user's needs. Because of this, it is
impossible to determine how many such VMs
are running at a time. VMs are therefore,
location in-specific, much like a cloud
network.
7 7
Risk Mitigation…
Regulatory compliance
Data location
Recovery
Investigative Support
Long-term viability

8
8
Key Characteristics…
Cost: Greatly reduced and Capital
Expenditure is converted to Operational
Expenditure.
Device and location independence:
Enable users to access systems using a web
browser regardless of their location or what
device they are using.
9 9
Reliability: Improves
through the use of multiple
redundant sites, which makes it
suitable for Business continuity
and Disaster recovery.

10
10
Security: Improves due to centralization
of data.
 Sustainability: comes about through
improved resource utilisation & more
efficient systems

Infrastructure
12
12
Clients: It consists of computer
hardware and software which relies on
cloud computing for application delivery,
or which is specifically designed for
delivery of cloud services and which, in
either case, is useless without it.

13
13
Service: It includes "products, services
and solutions that are delivered and
consumed in real-time over the Internet.”
 Storage: Cloud storage involves the
delivery of data storage as a service,
including databases.

The Cloud Computing infrastructure
consists of :-
 Data centers – Deliver Reliable services.
 Servers – Supports Data Centers.
The Cloud appears as a single point of
access for all the computing needs of
consumers.

17
16
Cloud architecture comprises of
hardware and software designed
by a cloud architect who works for
a cloud integrator.
It involves multiple cloud
components communicating with
each other over application
programming interfaces usually
web services.
Cloud architecture extends to
the client, where web browsers and
software applications access cloud
applications.

20
Public cloud or External cloud describes
cloud computing in the traditional
mainstream sense, whereby resources are
dynamically provisioned on a fine-grained,
self-service basis over the Internet, via web
applications/web services, from an off-site
third-party provider who shares resources
and bills on a fine-grained utility computing
basis.

19 21
A Hybrid cloud environment
consisting of multiple internal
and/or external providers is quite
typical for enterprises.
Private cloud and internal
cloud are neologisms that
emulate cloud computing on
private networks. Provides
capitalising on data security,
corporate governance, and
reliability concerns.

22
20
Future Scope:
Analysts predicts that private cloud
networks would be the future of
corporate IT.
 Cloud computing is hinting at a future
in which we won’t compute on local
computers, but on centralized facilities
operated by third-party compute &
storage utilities.
