    Major & Minor Scales are musical terms used to describe groups of pitches arranged in ascending and descending order. A Major Scale is the main scale used in most music and follows the pattern of whole steps (WS) and half steps (HS) between notes. A Minor Scale uses the same notes as its relative Major Scale but starts on a different pitch and follows a different pattern of WS and HS. Ledger lines are used to notate pitches above or below the regular music staff. The document then provides examples of the C, F, and G Major Scales as well as definitions and patterns for Major and Minor Scales.

    Rules in applying major scale to any key:

    The names of the notes of the major scale

    alphabet: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C.

    The only letter of the alphabet to appear twice


    in the scale is the root. It appears at both ends
    of the scale.

    You should not mix sharp and flat in a scale.
