Electrical Approach
• Use the same Core as 4100ES CPU and SPS
– minimizes software effort
• Cost reduce features not needed
• Remove harnessing where we can
• Remove expansion supply requirement (lower R&D effort)
• Remove sheet metal where we can
• Maximize option card space
• Leverage 4100ES Option Cards
8
CPU Card Overview
• Combination of 4100ES CPU Card, Motherboard, and User Interface
– Cost reduced with some features removed
9
CPU Card Features
• Membrane Keypad Controller (depopulated for InfoAlarm )
• Piezo built in (depopulated for InfoAlarm )
• 2X40 Display (depopulated for InfoAlarm)
• Compact Flash
• Style 7 RUI Circuit (Same wiring and limitations as 4100ES CPU
Motherboard)
• 4100 COMMs (internal slave comm)
• 30 Day Battery Backed History Logs
• Ethernet Service Port
• Serial Service Port (kept for TrueInsight Remote Gateway)
• Cold Start Switch
10
4010ES CPU Card Notable Deletions
• Removed Service Modem Interface
• Removed 8V power (was on motherboard)
• Removed CFIG Swap Button (not needed with the advent of Ethernet
Service Port)
• Removed 2 Programmable buttons and their corresponding LEDs
(membrane keypad)
• Removed City Circuit Interface
– must use MSS / MSSI city circuit interface option
• Removed 4100 Comm / Download Jumper for service troubleshooting
– not needed since Automated test interface does the same thing for field
captures

CPU Card Connections (External)
• RUI Interface
– Style 4 or Style 7 Wiring
• If Style 4 wiring is used, must have Pri-
Sec loop back on terminal block
– Short and open detection
– Same wiring guidelines as 4100ES RUI
circuitry
– Wiring gets terminated from the CPU card to
the left side of the box for strain relief
– 4010ES RUI Supports
• 4009T
• 4009TPS
• 24 I/O Graphic Annunciator
• 4010 Remote LCD Annunciator
• Remote InfoAlarm
17
Main System Slave (MSS) Overview
• Redesign of 4100ES SPS with added features
• Sold pre-installed in top level 4010ES PIDs or as a service part.
– Two versions
• MSS IDNet (MSSI) (0566-876) - includes a single channel 2 loop
IDNet+ circuit
• MSS (MSS) (0566-878) - IDNet circuit depopulated (MX systems)
18
MSS Features
• 8A of available power - excludes 2X40 CPU current draw and MSS current draw
– 48 LED Module, InfoAlarm, NAC power, IDNet peripherals current Draw must
be subtracted from the available 8A
• Four 3A Class A NACs (No option module required for Class A)
– Remember, you still have only 8A of available power.
• Battery Charger, up to 110Ah batteries (UL) and 50Ah (ULC) can be charged.
Batteries may need external battery box for larger batteries.
• Aux Relay (2A, 32V)
• Aux Power (2A Max)
• Standby Power, 5A Max (Same as SPS)
• Single Channel, Two Loop IDNet+ Circuit
• Mounting space for City Circuit, or Alarm Relay Module
– Ordered and installed separately
• Earth Detection (10K Ohm minimum)

MSS Field Wiring
24
MSS Field Wiring (cont.)
• IDNet+ Circuit
– Same wiring requirements as 4100-3107 IDNet+ card.
• 2 Loops instead of 4 loops.
• Compatible with all IDNet devices the 4100ES is compatible with
including Quickconnect (QC1 and QC2).
• When configured as Class B, can have 4 circuits per loop or 8 circuits
across both loops
• Aux Relay
– Same interface as the 4100ES SPS (2A, 32V)
• Aux Power
– Same as 4100ES SPS (2A max)

Top Bay and Expansion Bay PDIs Overview
• Similar to 4100ES PDI cards except
– No Audio Support
– Signal Power is bussed from bay to bay (no expansion supply needed)
• 5A Limitation of Signal Power in Second Bay (connector limitation)
• No Signal Power limitation in Top Bay
– Plugging cards used in the 4100ES into a 4010ES PDI will not damage the
card or PDI
• Exception – Power Supplies – not supported in software and
hardware may be damaged.
– Card power is 4A (includes Dead Front card power, MSS Limitation)

38
Software
39
The old 4010 is a far distant relative of the
4010ES – There are no similarities
• Old 4010 software was totally abandoned. None of it was used for 4010ES.
40
4010ES vs. 4100ES
• 4010ES Differentiation:
– Limited to 20 addressable slaves and e-slaves.
– Limited to 10 RUI annunciators.
– Limit of 3 optional cards in CPU bay. If a 4x10 card is used, limit is 2 optional
cards.
– Limited to 100 external network points. No limit on public network points.
– No Audio or Signal cards.
– Limited selection of Monitor, Relay, Annunciator, Interface, and Power options
(mostly due to form fit).
– Uses different LCD Annunciator than 4100ES or old 4010.
– New cards: MSSI, MSS, 4010IDNet+, 4010LCD, 48 LED Module.
– 4010ES limited to the 2 loop IDNet+ on MSSI.
– International 4010ES allows up to 4 MX Loop or 4010IDNet+ cards (IDNet+ circuit
on the MSSI counts against the limitation).
41
4010ES vs. 4100ES (cont.)
• 4010ES Noteworthy Similarities:
– No device restrictions on IDNet. All 4100ES IDNet devices
are available on 4010ES (including Isolators Modules,
Isolator Bases, Quickconnect 1 and Quickconnect 2
devices..
– Full 4120 network capability (public and external points).
• Supports Global Ack
– Vesda availability.
– Computer port and TrueInsight compatible.
– InfoAlarm is available.
42
4010 to 4010ES Upgrade
• Items that will not be translated to 4010ES:
– Custom Control.
– System Options and Access Levels.
– Network and Site Info.
– User List and User Pseudos.
– Class A Adaptor Card for NACs, Battery Meter Modules, and Expansion Power
Supply.
– DACT Programming
• The ES Programmer is not used to program the DACT
43
4010 to 4010ES Upgrade (cont.)
• 4010 IDNet device translation restrictions:
– LATSUPV for ION will not be translated.
– SUPVMON for ION will not be translated.
– LATSUPV for QSPHOTO will not be translated.
– SUPVMON for QSPHOTO will not be translated.
– SUPREL for RIAM will not be translated.
– SWATER for RIAM will not be translated.
– QRPHOTO will be translated to QSPHOTO on 4010ES.
– Labels for multi-point devices (e.g. 4009 points) may not appear in the 4010ES job.
– Devices at addresses 249 and 250 will not be translated as these addresses are reserved for IDNet+ Isolators.
• All items that do not translate will be noted in the output as conversion
progresses.
