Module 1 - Basic Concept of Community Work

Community psychology studies individuals within the social groups and communities they interact with. It aims to apply psychological principles to help solve social problems and help people adapt to their environments. Community psychologists conduct research, assess psychosocial needs, consult on public policy, enhance community engagement, and evaluate community programs. They work in academic, government, nonprofit, and private settings. The community psychology movement began in the 1950s-60s in response to deinstitutionalization and a push for community-based mental healthcare.
