 What is Quizizz

Quizizz is a website that teachers, students, and parents can utilize for the purposes of quizzes/tests, homework, and
even lesson plans.

Quizizz will take learning to a whole new level in a classroom (or even at home)! It is an interactive educational
platform that turns learning into a fun and engaging experience.

There are three different subscription plans for this website/app; Basic, Super, and Schools and Districts. Basic is free
to whomever wishes to use it, gives the option to utilize the site with ads and no answer explanations. The Super plan
is not free, has no ads and gives answer explanations. Then there is Schools and Districts which makes Quizizz
available through the school for any teacher who wishes to use it.

What is it?
 What Can A Teacher Do With Quizizz

Teachers, parents, or students can go on and create an account to begin utilizing the tools offered by Quizizz.
Teachers can go on and choose from the library of quizzes and lessons that have been published by others. Or,
they have the option to make their own quiz (or lesson).

Teachers can use Quizizz to have students do independent work, have them work collaboratively in small groups,
or use it to work together as a whole with the entire class.

There are options for things like Bell Ringers and Ice Breakers to help those first days of school and kill time while
setting up everything to start class.

Teachers can see the scores of each student’s assignments, they can also see what questions took them longer to
answer-giving them an idea of areas that they might need to spend more time working with the class on, or with
individual students.
 How It Works
Having the ability to use another teacher’s work is an awesome option, especially for those teachers that are short on
time but need a lesson, or assignment, to give their students. When using someone else’s work on Quizizz there is the
ability to edit it. With this option, a teacher can then add more questions in (which can be searched by topic or write
their own), delete questions, and even change the time limit that is given to answer each question.

When making a test/quiz, teachers can set time limits to each individual question. The time does not have to be the
same on each one and ranges anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes. This is a wonderful tool for those students who
might need a little more time when it comes to taking tests. Once they finish setting up the assignment it is publicly
published, giving others the ability to use their work. Of course, they are given the option to delete their work but only
from their library-it will remain on the Quizizz system for other teachers to use.

Quizizz can even be used for homework assignments! A teacher would go through the motions of setting up the
assignment and choose for it to be homework. Then they set the time and date that it is to be done by.

When ready to start the quiz (or lesson) chosen, or made, the teacher will click “start live quiz” (or assign as
homework). They will be given the choice between student paced, class working independently or in groups, or
instructor paced where the teacher will go through the lesson with them. A code will then pop up, this code allows
students to have access to the assignment.
 Classroom Integration

There are several different ways that I could integrate this educational tool in my classroom. For those days that I
am running short on time, between grading work and being an active member in my family, I could go onto
Quizizz and find a lesson, as well as an assignment to go along with the lesson.

An example of a lesson that I could choose would be a grammar lesson. I would have this lesson up on the
Interactive Whiteboard, my students would have their grammar books out. We would follow the slides on my
Quizizz lesson, working from both the book and the Whiteboard. After going through a few slides, there would be
some questions that the class would need to answer. If a student feels they know the answer, they could come
choose the right one or I would work through it and help them find the answer. Once we finished the lesson on
Quizizz, I would have the students split up into groups (probably groups of 3-4 students) to then get ready to work
together on the next portion of the lesson.

This part of the lesson would be when one student from each group gets out their laptop, or tablet, and pulls up
their Quizizz app. They would then enter their code in and begin the quiz portion. With them working together, I
would allocate more time to answer each question. This way they have time to talk through the question, working
together to come to a conclusion of what the answer would be.
