INTRODUCTION TO APPS

The word “app“ is an abbreviation used for application. An


application is a software designed to do a specific job. An app
enables you to do something like you can paint ,draw ,read maps
and barcodes, take pics, play games, watch & edit videos etc..
However, with the rapid rise in the use of smartphones these days,
the word “app” is mostly used to refer to the software that runs on
mobile phones .
TYPES OF APPS
Apps can be broadly classified as Desktop apps, Web apps, or Mobile
apps .
1. DESKTOP APPS : These apps can be used on a desktop or a laptop.
Generally, they do not need web access and run independently on
computer .
2. WEB APPS : These apps require an internet connection. They are
usually browser based and stored on a remote server.
3. MOBILE APPS :These apps run on a smartphone or a tablet. Mobile
apps have responsive web designs to adapt to the much smaller screen
sizes and orientation of the mobile devices.
USES OF COMMON APPS
Apps have become so prevalent today that a suitable one can be found for
almost any job. Whether it is for learning, entertainment, social
interactions, or even banking and E-Commerce, there is an app for every
purpose .

DOWNLOADING & INSTALLING AN APP FROM
GOOGLE PLAY STORE

• Tap on play store icon on the screen of your device.


• Type the name of the app in the search bar that you wish to download.
• Then it will display the relevant list of apps . Now select the most
suitable one by tapping on the name of the app.
• Then the app which meets your requirements, tap the INSTALL button
to install the app on your device.
• The app is now ready to use .
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF APPS ?
1. The users don’t have to play the waiting game .
2. Apps are a constant reminder of your business .

HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN APP ?

• Requirements for development of apps


1. To make an android app, software such as ANDROID SOFTWARE
DEVELOPMENT KIT (ANDROID SDK) is required.
2. Knowledge of JAVA is needed.
3. You need to learn XML, HTML, CSS .
4. The ANDROID STUDIO from Google is one such example, while
ECLIPSE is another that helps in app development .
