What is School Culture?
• refers to the beliefs, perception, relationships,
attitudes, and written and unwritten rules that
shape and influence every aspect of how a sch
ool functions.
What is toxic culture?
• Schools with a toxic culture don’t have a clear
sense of purpose, blame students for poor ach
ievement, and have norms that reinforce inacti
on. In addition, it discourages collaboration an
d often has hostile relations among staff.
