Transport Network
Routers
Router consist of GER routers in different regions.
Perform interconnection between different
network and route the packet to desired SS.
Layer 2 Switches
Passes Vlan transparently to desired destination through
trunk port.
Layer 2 Switches consist of edge aggregation switches
(2818,2936,2928 layer 2 manageable switches) and high
end carrier class switches T64G, T40G, 8905

Aggregation Concept
Availability of direct connection to transmission network
backbone
Connect uplink using GE/FE optical interface to Aggregation
switch.
Connect uplink using GE/FE electrical interface to Aggregation
switch.
Unavailability of direct connection to transmission network
backbone
Availability of optical interface through ODF.
Availability of Ethernet / E1 interface through microwave radio
network.
Availability of E1 interface
PTN ( Packet Transmission Network)
Aggregation Concept
Unavailability of direct connection
Availability of optical interface through ODF.
Determination of Distance between the ODF at AG site
and ODF at core site.
Suggest required SPF to be connected in required
interface. (10km, 30 km, 40 km)
Availability of Ethernet / E1 interface through microwave
radio network.
If ethernet interface available in radio, it can be directly
connected to fe electrical uplink interface of AG
If E1 interface a pair of EOS (Ethernet over SDH)need
to be connected.
