The main components of a CPU are the motherboard, processor, memory, hard disk, CD/ROM drive, video card, power supply, heat sink/fan, cables/connectors, and case. The motherboard acts as the main circuit board connecting all components. The processor performs mathematical operations while other components store or transmit data. Memory processes data at high speeds. The hard disk stores operating data and system. The video card connects the CPU to the monitor to produce graphics. The power supply converts power for components. The heat sink/fan prevents overheating. Cables connect components like the hard disk to the motherboard. The case holds all internal parts.

Lesson 1a: Parts of CPU
Main Parts of CPU are:
1. Motherboard 2. Processor 3. Memory 4. Hard Disk 5. CD/DVD Rom 6. Video Card 7. Power Supply 8. Heat Sink / Fan 9. Cable / Connectors 10. Case Motherboard
The function of the
computer motherboard is to act as the main circuit board that connects and communicates to all the devices and components attached. Processor The processor is the only part of a computer that takes an active role in performing mathematical operations-all other elements of the system exist to either store data on either a temporary or long- term basis or provide the means by which the different systems communicate. Memory
Computer memory or RAM processes every bit of data our computer uses at almost unbelievable speeds with uncanny consistency. Hard Disk
One of the most
necessary parts of a computer is the hard drive. Besides storing digital information, hard disk drives also contain all of a computer's operating data, including the operating system. CD/DVD-ROM
CD/DVD-ROM drives are
very popular for playing and installing media. Video Card
The video card connects
to the motherboard and the monitor. This allows the card to accept information from the CPU (central processing unit) and send output to the monitor. Graphics cards allow computers to produce graphics and images more quickly. Power Supply
Power supply units convert
one form of electrical input, usually AC wall power, into usable energy for system devices. Power supply units are responsible for converting AC power sources to the DC phase that devices must have to operate as well as maintaining amperage and voltages within tolerable ranges of 3.3, 5, and 12 volts. Heat Sink / Fan
A heat sink draws heat away
from an object and dissipates it into the air. Ruled by the laws of thermodynamics, heat sinks help prevent something from getting too hot. Heat sinks are often made of metals and alloys but can also be in a liquid state for some applications. Cable / Connector
The data cable connects the
SATA hard disk to the motherboard. The hard drive transmits and receives data through the chipset, which allows the disk to communicate with the rest of the components connected to the motherboard. Case
The main function of a computer
case is simple. It holds all of the internal parts to your computer. Lesson 1b: Parts of Motherboard 1. CPU Socket 2. DIMM/SIMM – Dual/Single In-Line Memory Module 3.
