Lesson 5 How Computers Work
Everyday tasks such as making pancakes or washing your hands follow
three basic steps. These are input, process, and output.

In making pancakes, the inputs are the ingredients that are mixed
together. These ingredients undergo a process called cooking.
The output are warm, fluffy pancakes that you love to eat!.

These are the hardware, software, and peopleware. These elements

are very important for a computer to function.

If one of these elements is missing, the computer will not work.

Hardware
• refers to the parts of a computer system that you can touch. These
are all objects that are connected to the computer. Without
hardware, a computer would not exist.
Software
refers to programs that you use. A program is a set of commands that
dictate how a computer will process data.

The Universal Serial Bus (USB) port is the part that is used to connect
peripheral devices into the computer.

Internal Parts of thr CPU

The main memory is the storage in a computer where data to be
processed and commands needed for processing are stored.
the microprocessor takes in and processes data according to commands
stored in its memory , and provdes results as output.

the hard disk drive is a device that stores all the software and data in a
computer. It is a form of permanent storage.
