Fundamental Theorem of Calculus

The document discusses the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (FTOC). It explains that the FTOC illustrates the relationship between differentiation and integration, and how it can be used to find the area under a curve. The document outlines activities for students, including having groups define the FTOC in their own words, playing a true/false fact game about integration, and challenging groups with example problems. The goal is for students to appreciate how the FTOC can be applied to calculate areas, especially the area under a curve.

FUNDAMENTAL

THEOREM OF
CALCULUS
At the end of this lesson
 1. Illustrate the Fundamental Theorems of Calculus
 2. Appreciate the importance of the Fundamental
Theorems of Calculus in finding the area of a plane
figure most specially the area under curve.
 3. Apply the Fundamental Theorems of Calculus in
finding the area of a plane figure most specially the
are under curve.
Activity #1 : Ano ang FTOC mo?
 Each group will make their own FTOC meaning in
their own. It should be related to the whole school
year of studying Precalculus and Basic Calculus.
Each initials will be represented by
words/phrases/sentences either experiences or
feelings about the subject. Example:
Akala ko mahirap,
Fero Toon lang yOng Catapat.
ACTIVITY # 2

#Pak! Na Fact!
Instruction:

This activity will be done by group. There are 9

letters given from A to I with corresponding answers
with which you are going to distinguish if it is true by
writing the letters on the sheet (Pak! Na Fact Sheet)
given. You are given 1 minute to this and must obtain
3 out of 4 picked letters correctly to win the game.
EXAMPLE
A G L

y=f(x) 1x

B H M Advance Mag-Isip Group

C I N

Rationale

 The indefinite integral is the inverse

process of differentiation
 Definite integral is the process of finding
the area of a plane region by taking the
limit of a sum
 The only vague connection we have
established is the relationship between
the antiderivative of a function and the
area of the region.

Note: It uses the Vertical Line Notation

Activity #3: Extra Challenge

Instruction: The teacher will challenge each group to

answer the question. The question will be shown first
to the group and they will decide right away if they
will or not to accept the challenge. If they will not
take the challenge they will 6 points. If they will take
the challenge they get 8 point if their answer is wrong,
if it is correct they will get 10 points.
