Understanding Number System: Week 2 - Grade 6

The document outlines a 6-day lesson plan on rational and irrational numbers for 6th grade students. Over the 6 days, students will: 1) Learn to recognize and differentiate between different types of number sets like whole numbers, integers, rational and irrational numbers using Venn diagrams. 2) Recall the real number system and represent it using a tree diagram. 3) Classify rational numbers and represent them on a number line. 4) Practice rounding numbers and solving questions using estimation and rounding. 5) Represent rational numbers on a number line and solve related exercises. 6) Compare natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational and irrational numbers using symbols like <, >,

5 Rules to Identify Digits which are Significant

1. All non-zero digits are significant.
2. All zeros between non - zero digits are significant
3. In a decimal, all zeros after non - zero digit are significant.
4. In a decimal, all zeros before non - zero digit are not significant.
5. In whole numbers, the zeros at the end may or may not be significant. It
depends on how the numbers are approximated.
