Technology Issues for

Educational Leaders
DESPITE OF INCREASINGLY
WIDESPREAD ADOPTION OF
TECHNOLOGIES IN EVERY ASPECT
OF K-12 EDUCATION, THERE ARE
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES PREVENTING
WIDESPREAD EFFECTIVE
IMPLEMENTATION.
"The NMC Horizon Report: K-12
Edition,"identifies key emerging
issues in education technology and
among those issues are challenges
that represent significant
constraints on the adoption of
technology in education.
PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
-Key among all challenges is the lack of adequate, ongoing
professional development for teachers who are required to integrate
new technologies into their classrooms yet who are unprepared or
unable to understand new technologies.
RESISTANCE TO CHANGE
-Resistance to technology comes in
many forms, but one of the key
resistance challenges identified in the
report is "comfort with the status
quo."
MOOCS AND OTHER NEW
MODELS FOR SCHOOLING
In particular, the MOOC (massive open online course) — probably the
hottest topic in higher education right now — was identified as being "at
the forefront" of discussions about new modes of delivering K-12
education.
BUDGET LIMITATIONS
By far the greatest factor limiting the efforts of
teachers and administrators to provide
education technology to students, budget cuts
and limitations are a major hurdle that
proponents of education technology must
overcome in order to successfully introduce
technology into their classrooms.
NO SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO UTILIZE
TECHNOLOGY IN CURRICULUM
A major challenge in the adoption of
new tools is not providing teachers
with the guidance they need to make
education technology work for them in
their specific classroom.
POOR NETWORK
INFRASTRUCTURE
A strong network infrastructure
requires fast, high-quality WiFi at
school and at home, as well as data
privacy and security, access to
digital resources, and much more.
UNRELIABLE DEVICES AND
SOFTWARE
Although education technology can
be a powerful tool, devices and
software need to be consistent and
reliable for it to remain a viable
option in the future.
ADMINISTRATORS DON’T SEE THE
NEED FOR MORE TECHNOLOGY
Finally, another challenge facing technology in
education is the fact that many administrators are
simply unwilling to immediately adopt it. The
reasons for this vary but are likely due to budget
considerations as well as the fact that the benefits
of education technology are not yet well-defined.

How to Use Google
Meet?
What is Google Meet?
-is a video conferencing service from
Google. It's a great solution for both
individuals and businesses to meet on
audio and video calls. It was born from
Google Hangouts, but boasts some
unique features.
Google Meet
• Google Meet, also known as Google Hangouts Meet, is built to let
dozens of people join the same virtual meeting, and speak or share
video with each other from anywhere with internet access.

• Google Meet is more secure than Zoom. It encrypts messages but

doesn’t use end-to-end encryption. Messages are encrypted “in
transit”. This means that they are only encrypted between your
device and Google’s servers.

• Google Meet has become the most popular Google app on Android
with approximately 16.31 million downloads in June 2021.
